Aneel Authorizes Operation of 83.71 MW in Renewable Energy Projects in Bahia, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul, and Santa Catarina, Boosting the National Electric Sector.
The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) authorized the commercial and test operation of 83.71 megawatts (MW) in renewable energy projects in four states of Brazil: Bahia, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul, and Santa Catarina.
The decision was published in the Official Gazette between June 26 and 27 and includes solar, wind, and a small hydroelectric power plant.
This measure is another step in advancing the country’s sustainable energy matrix, even in the face of recent challenges faced by projects of this type.

Bahia and Minas Gerais Concentrate the Largest Released Capacity
The majority of the capacity approved by Aneel is in the states of Bahia and Minas Gerais.
A total of 69 MW was released for test operation among the photovoltaic plants (UFVs) SDB Solar 4 and Pedro Leopoldo 1.
These projects reinforce the expansion of solar generation in regions with high solar irradiation potential.
Additionally, in Bahia, Casa dos Ventos received authorization to commercially operate three generating units from the wind farms Ventos de Santo Antônio 04 and 05, totaling 13.5 MW.
These parks are located in the municipalities of Morro do Chapéu and Várzea Nova, already recognized for hosting various wind projects.
Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina Also Advance
In the south of the country, renewable energy projects have also gained momentum.
In the municipality of Panambi, in Rio Grande do Sul, five generating units from UFV Zinco Forte were released, with a total capacity of 0.45 MW.
In Santa Catarina, the Antunes hydroelectric generating center (CGH) received authorization to operate 0.76 MW.
These figures, although smaller, represent an important step in diversifying the local electric matrix.
Aneel continues to prioritize the decentralization of energy generation, supporting initiatives in different states.
New Projects Seek Authorization for Renewable Generation Expansion
In addition to operational releases, Aneel has registered a new request for a grant application (DRO).
The request pertains to the wind project Fazenda Jaú, with a planned capacity of 36 MW, located in Santana de Matos, Rio Grande do Norte.
This step precedes the official grant and allows the entrepreneur to request access to the transmission system, in addition to starting processes such as environmental licensing.
The DRO is considered essential in the schedule of new renewable energy projects, as it marks the formal start of technical and regulatory planning.
With the progress of this process, Rio Grande do Norte could further reinforce its position as a national leader in wind generation.
Expansion Continues Despite Challenges in the Sector
Even with recent requests for revocation of grants and difficulties faced by large groups, Aneel continues to encourage the entry of new renewable energy projects.
The diversity of sources — solar, wind, and hydropower — and the presence in multiple states show that there is still momentum for the expansion of the green matrix in Brazil.
On the other hand, bottlenecks in transmission infrastructure and regulatory issues still pose barriers.
The release of new operations and the registration of requests are signs of resilience and confidence on the part of entrepreneurs in the national energy sector.

With the new releases from Aneel, Brazil reaffirms its vocation to lead the global energy transition.
