89-Year-Old Farmer Reduces Electricity Bill From R$ 700 to R$ 80 With Solar Energy and Gains More Comfort in Ceará. See How the Investment Changed His Life.

The decision to invest in solar energy completely changed the life of a resident of the Ceará hinterlands. The 89-year-old farmer reduces his electricity bill from R$ 700 to R$ 80 with solar energy after installing a photovoltaic system on his property in Jaguaribe (CE).

The change, made by Laércio de Amorim, brought not only immediate savings but also comfort and financial security for the entire family, which can now use essential appliances without fear of increasing expenses.

Right after the technology installation, Laércio saw energy expenses drop drastically. The amount, which previously approached R$ 700 per month, now does not exceed R$ 80.

According to him, the impact was so great that the family has started to reorganize their domestic routine and better plan their budget.

The initiative also stands out because it occurs precisely in the hinterlands of northeastern Brazil, where the heat and constant use of electrical appliances make energy even more necessary.

The change was only possible after the farmer decided to sell part of the land to raise the R$ 20,000 needed for the solar system.

He states that the sacrifice was worth it, as the financial return appears every month. Additionally, the installation on the property’s soil allowed for better utilization of the region’s solar incidence.

Economy That Changes the Routine in the Ceará Hinterlands

The reduction in the bill was not the only benefit. With the use of solar energy, the family gained the freedom to use air-conditioning units, something that was previously avoided due to its impact on consumption.

In the hinterlands, where temperatures exceed 30°C even at night, thermal relief has become an important gain for well-being.

Before installation, just using the air-conditioning added about R$ 300 to the monthly electricity bill. Now, thanks to the photovoltaic system, the family can keep three units running without worry.

Laércio’s wife, Dona Lourdes, confirms the transformation:

“If we had to pay for the regular energy, we would be paying over R$ 1,000.00 per month. Today, even with three air-conditioning units, we pay around R$ 80.00. The investment was worth it,” she claims.

For Laércio, the impact of savings goes beyond the present. With more money left over at the end of the month, he reveals that he has started saving part of the resources to ensure peace of mind in old age.

“What’s left over, I save. It’s a security for old age, for health, for day-to-day,” he celebrates.

This change represents, for him, not only relief in bills but also a form of family protection and financial stability, something essential for elderly people who depend on a fixed income.

Conscious Investment That Inspires Other Brazilians

The farmer emphasizes that, despite the initial cost, giving up part of the land was crucial for achieving a better quality of life.

“Sometimes it’s worth giving up something, like a piece of land or even a car that isn’t used for work, and investing in something that will bring savings every month,” he explains.

His journey reinforces how access to solar energy has ceased to be limited to high-income families and has become a viable alternative in rural and urban areas.

Today, the 89-year-old farmer reduces his electricity bill from R$ 700 to R$ 80 with solar energy and becomes an example of how strategic choices can transform realities.

Stories That Show the Advance of Solar Energy in Brazil

In addition to Laércio’s case, other Brazilian families have also reported profound changes after adopting the photovoltaic system.

Retired couples, for example, have been able to maintain essential services like health insurance thanks to reduced bills.

Self-employed workers, such as a seamstress mentioned by Canal Solar, have discovered that the technology is not just “for the rich” and can fit into the monthly budget.

These accounts reinforce that solar energy has established itself as a practical alternative for those looking to reduce expenses, increase comfort, and achieve energy autonomy.
