For the beef producing sector, especially for the exporters of the product, the year 2020 is set to be marked by a new record and generate 8 billion dollars in foreign exchange this year, according to the president of the Brazilian Association of Exporters of Meat (Abiec), Antônio Jorge Camardelli.

This year, according to data from Secex (Foreign Trade Secretariat) compiled by Abiec, the world’s largest protein exporter could ship more than 2 million tons, which represents 130,000 more than in 2019, when the volume had already increased by 12.4% compared to 2018.
Camardelli reported that China remains the main destination for beef exports. 26.7% of purchases (494,000 tons) last year were for the Chinese. The revenue from the volume exported to the country was US$ 2.67 billion.
It is worth remembering that in February of this year, Brazil resumed exporting fresh beef to the United States, improving the competitiveness of the supply chain. “(Brazilian) slaughterhouses that have not yet reached China can access the USA,” Camardelli stated.
