Órigo Energia Plans to Leverage Augment Infrastructure’s Entry as One of Its Main Shareholders and Will Invest BRL 4 Billion in Shared Solar Energy Generation to Serve Over 500 Clients in Brazil.

For this Tuesday, (02/08), the Brazilian company Órigo Energia has great projections for its business future, as the renewable firm Augment Infrastructure has entered as one of Órigo’s main shareholders and will enable growth in the energy market. Thus, the company now plans to invest BRL 4 billion in shared solar energy generation over the next 2 years in Brazil.

Órigo Energia Plans to Invest BRL 4 Billion in Shared Solar Energy Generation Market in Brazil by 2024

The company Órigo recently announced the entry of the fund management firm focused on renewable and sustainable energy, Augment Infrastructure, as one of its newest shareholders, and revealed its business growth plans in the Brazilian market.

Augment Infrastructure made an investment of BRL 460 million in the energy company and became one of the largest shareholders of the company, alongside TPG ART, MOV Investimentos, and Mitsui, which are part of Órigo’s shareholder group.

“We are very excited to have Augment among our investors. This move will strengthen Órigo’s pioneering role in the subscription renewable energy sector in Brazil. Augment has decades of experience in renewable energy investments, and the expertise of its executives will certainly contribute to Órigo’s exponential growth,” commented the Chairman of the Board of Órigo and partner at Circularis Partners / TPG ART, Roel Collier, regarding Augment Infrastructure’s entry into Órigo’s list of main shareholders.

In addition to securing even more funding to grow in the national energy market, Órigo is planning to make a billion-dollar investment in shared solar energy generation in Brazil, with capital amounting to BRL 4 billion by 2024.

This way, the company will have an installed capacity of 1 GWp (gigawatt peak) in its solar farms to serve over 500 thousand clients in the Southeast, Midwest, and Northeast regions of the country, thus ensuring even greater growth in the shared solar energy sector within the national territory.

Energy Company Already Serves Over 50 Thousand Clients, and Billion-Dollar Investment Will Expand Company’s Presence in Shared Solar Energy Generation in the National Territory

Augment Infrastructure’s entry into Órigo Energia with an investment of over BRL 460 million to become one of the main shareholders will open up significant opportunities in the Brazilian energy market for the company.

This is because the company will now have the chance to continue investing in technology and expand its services to new geographies, broadening and democratizing access to a larger number of consumers for solar energy, thereby ensuring a greater focus on renewables.

Órigo Energia’s CEO, Surya Mendonça, also highlighted that the billion-dollar investment in shared solar energy generation will contribute to the environmental agenda, considering that renewable energies are the main focus of Brazil’s energy transition.

Additionally, the company will also have the opportunity to expand its business portfolio in the country, which currently serves over 50 thousand clients, with an installed capacity of over 150 MWp operational from its solar farms in Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, and São Paulo.

By the end of 2022, Órigo aims to reach an installed capacity of over 250 MWp and continue investing in solar energy production in the country, focusing on shared generation, which is the biggest bet of the national energy sector for the coming years.
