The Government of the State of Ceará is acting as an intermediary in the negotiation and has promised tax incentives to the company that acquires the Ford complex, especially if it focuses on clean energy. “Our priority is job retention,” Maia said to CBN.
“I cannot specify, as it is a relationship between the seller and the buyer. I have positioned myself as a facilitator. We are supporting potential buyers because the continuation of the factory and, therefore, job retention is of interest to the state government,” Maia Júnior said to O Povo CBN radio. According to him, Ford wants to close the deal by the end of June.

The Troller factory in Ceará generates 470 direct jobs and employees risk being laid off, as happened with the closure of Ford’s factory in Camaçari (BA), which left over five thousand people unemployed. “We want the future buyer to come with advancements in the automotive industry that do not remain restricted to production,” said the secretary.
About Brazilian Troller
Troller was founded in 1995 by Ceará entrepreneur Rogério Farias, focusing on the production of adventurous vehicles. Over its first ten years, the brand stood out with the launch of the RF Sport and T4 models, attracting Ford’s attention in 2007.
It was in that year that the Brazilian automaker was purchased by Ford. Since then, the blue oval brand has updated the T4, which began using components from Ford models, such as the EcoSport.
Ford maintained Troller’s operations in Horizonte but incorporated marketing, after-sales, and service departments into the factory in São Bernardo do Campo (SP). This complex was also closed in 2019 as part of the global restructuring, ending the life of the Fiesta hatchback and the truck line.
For now, it is unclear what will happen with the use of these patents. It is likely that Ford will grant Troller the rights for some time, until the Brazilian automaker develops a new platform for its jeeps. This will obviously also depend on the new owner. Currently, the Horizonte factory has 400 employees and may return to have Brazilian shareholders.
Ford Motor Will Import About 30,000 Cars Produced in Its Foreign Factories Per Year Through the Port of Vitória
The Ford Motor Company is set to import vehicles through the Port of Vitória. Last week, 450 cars unloaded at the state arrived on the ship Torrens. The estimate is that approximately 30,000 cars will arrive in Brazil via Espírito Santo each year.
On May 18, the first vehicles from the American automaker arrived at the port of Vitória. Previously, Ford brought its cars through Baixada Santista and Bahia.
Now, the Vila Velha Port Terminal (ES) will be the only entry point for Ford in Brazil. According to Log-In Logistics, the company responsible for the operation, the complex will receive approximately 28,000 to 30,000 cars from the American company annually.
The delivery was accompanied by Governor Renato Casagrande, who also visited the new vehicle storage and handling yard operated by LogIN TVV inside the Port of Vitória.
In a Move Opposite to Ford’s, Volkswagen — The World’s Largest Automaker, Invests in Production and Factory in SP
In a move opposite to Ford’s, Pablo di Si, CEO of the Volkswagen multinational in Latin America, announced in an interview with Reuters on the 7th, the commitment to launch a new investment cycle in Brazil. According to the executive, the investment details will be disclosed at the end of the year by the Global CEO of the Group, Herbert Diess.
According to Pablo di Si, “we defined (the investment) and have already stopped production at our factory in Taubaté to prepare the new platform.” The executive did not provide product details, but it is known that one of them is the Polo Track, a new entry model for the brand in Brazil.
The Taubaté factory currently produces two compact cars, the Sedan Voyage and the hatchback Gol.
So far this year, Volkswagen has become the best-selling brand in Brazil, surpassing General Motors Co (GM.N) after many years, as part of GM’s production in Brazil was interrupted more than Volkswagen’s due to a global chip shortage.
