Renault Captur 2025 Debuts With Significant Updates in Design, Technology, and Sustainability, Including a New iTech Full Hybrid System, Maintaining Classic Dimensions but With a Complete Revision in Style and Functionality.

The automotive market welcomes the latest news from Renault, the Captur 2025, promising more than just a visual upgrade. This model, one of the most celebrated in the last decade in Europe and other markets like Brazil, brings substantial innovations that go beyond aesthetics, diving into technical and software improvements.

Externally, the Captur 2025 measures 4.23 meters in length and 1.79 meters in width, anchored on the already well-known CMF-B platform shared with Nissan. The aesthetic novelty comes from the design signature led by Gilles Vidal, reflecting a new direction visible mainly at the front of the vehicle. With LED headlights and a new grille, the car showcases a more modern and aggressive look. Enjoy the advertisement they released on YouTube, see below.

The Renault Captur 2025 is equipped with a varied range of engine options, standing out for the inclusion of the new iTech Full Hybrid system, an important step for Renault towards energy efficiency and sustainability. The base model features a 1000cc three-cylinder engine generating 90 horsepower, an ideal choice for those seeking fuel efficiency for daily use.

The Captur 2025 maintains the option of an engine adapted for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which now comes with a larger tank, combining savings and lower environmental impact. One of the new features is the 1.6 TC engine with 160 horsepower and mild hybrid technology, which integrates an auxiliary electric system to reduce consumption and emissions during start and deceleration.

However, the highlight is the iTech Full Hybrid system, which offers a performance of 145 horsepower and combines a thermal engine of 94 horsepower with two electric motors—one main of 36 kW and a secondary of 18 kW. This arrangement allows not only predominantly electric driving at low speeds but also electric assistance during accelerations. The clutchless automatic transmission, with a combination of 14 speeds (four for the thermal engine and two for the electric), facilitates smooth gear shifts, improving the driving experience and energy efficiency.

What Is the Downside?

The iTech Full Hybrid system of the Renault Captur 2025, despite bringing numerous advantages in terms of efficiency and sustainability, is not without criticism. One of the main concerns is the complexity of the hybrid system, which may lead to higher maintenance costs in the long run, especially when the electrical components start requiring replacements, such as the high-cost batteries.

Another aspect that may be seen as a downside is the absence of a plug-in hybrid option, which would offer greater flexibility and electric range. This design choice limits the Captur 2025 to a more conventional hybrid system, which, while efficient, does not provide the same level of energy independence that plug-in models offer, something that could be more appealing to consumers concerned with sustainability and fuel consumption.

Interior and Safety

The model also features updates to the suspension system, seeking greater driving comfort, along with a new configuration of the braking and aerodynamic systems, enhancing both performance and efficiency of the vehicle.

Internally, Renault made it a point to update the infotainment system to Android Automotive 12, offering a more intuitive and modern interface. The seats and upholstery follow an environmentally conscious policy, avoiding materials of animal origin and opting for sustainable alternatives.

New Renault Captur in Brazil?

The launch of the new Renault Captur 2025 has generated expectations in various markets around the world, but for the Brazilian audience, the situation is different. Renault has decided not to introduce the updated model in Brazil, a choice influenced by the previous sales performance of the Captur in the country.

Since its launch in Brazil in 2017 until 2023, the Renault Captur faced significant challenges in the local market. Despite its popularity in regions like Europe, the SUV has not managed to replicate that success in Brazilian territory, with sales figures that did not meet expectations. This reality led the French automaker to reevaluate its strategy for the Brazilian market, opting not to make the 2025 version of the Captur available, possibly focusing on other models that could have stronger commercial performance. Currently, the 2025 version is sold in Europe starting at 24,000 euros.
