Elected Second Best Theme Park in the World at the Travellers’ Choice Awards 2025 by Tripadvisor, Beto Carrero World Announces a New Cycle of Investments: Bob Sponge Themed Area with Two Attractions, High-Tech Roller Coaster Expected for 2028 and Hotel Complex with Three Hotels of 200 Apartments Each, in Penha SC.
The Beto Carrero World, in Penha, on the North Coast of Santa Catarina, has opened a new chapter of expansion with an investment of R$ 2 billion, promising to shake up the tourism map and reinforce the park as a complete entertainment destination.
Recognized as a leader in Latin America and noted as the second best theme park in the world in the Travellers’ Choice Awards 2025 by Tripadvisor, Beto Carrero wants to keep the showcase bright with new themed areas, large attractions, and a heavy investment in accommodations within the complex.
Expansion of R$ 2 Billion: What Changes at Beto Carrero
The plan announced by Beto Carrero combines an expansion of experiences in the park with infrastructure to accommodate visitors for longer periods in the city.

Havan will leave the shopping mall in Blumenau to inaugurate something that the chain has never done before: a megastore in half-timbered style in the Historic Center of the city, which is expected to be completed in May and change the landscape of local retail.
The proposal involves new themed areas, unprecedented attractions, and the creation of an adjoining hotel core, with a structure designed to increase the public’s stay in the region.
The park’s management describes the move as a “new cycle of investments” to sustain the constant reinvention of the venture and reinforce its positioning as one of the most relevant names in entertainment in Latin America, with a special focus on families.
SpongeBob Gains the Largest Area in the World Based on the Character and Arrives in 2028

Among the new features, the most attention-grabbing is the themed area of SpongeBob, developed in partnership with Paramount. The delivery is expected in 2028, and the promise is that it will be the largest area in the world inspired by the character.
The project will feature two major attractions, and the park claims that one of them will be a landmark: the most expensive and technological roller coaster ever acquired in the Southern Hemisphere.
The proposal is to combine popular appeal, international scale, and cutting-edge technology to keep Beto Carrero among the most sought-after entertainment destinations.
Little Chick Enters the Park with Immersive Area Still This Year
In addition to SpongeBob, another investment is the arrival of a Brazilian icon: The Little Chick will gain a totally immersive area, with rides, character meet-and-greets, and exclusive shows.
The premiere is expected still this year and is part of the celebrations for the 34th anniversary of the park, expanding the offering aimed at families with young children and reinforcing the strategy of having experiences dedicated to different age groups at the same destination.
Teaser of Another International Character on the Park’s Radar
The CEO of Beto Carrero World, Alex Murad, indicated that the package of news doesn’t stop there.
In addition to the themed area of SpongeBob and The Little Chick, the park is working on another themed area based on an internationally loved character, with an announcement promised “soon.”
The management’s message is one of long-term planning, aiming for the next 5 to 10 years and reinforcing the idea of continuous updates to keep the park always attractive for first-time visitors and returning guests.
Three Hotels Within the Complex: Each with 200 Apartments
The investment by Beto Carrero is not restricted to attractions. The plan includes the construction of an adjoining hotel complex, with three hotels, each unit having 200 apartments.
The proposal also foresees integration with other hotel chains, designing a new hub of accommodation and leisure directly linked to the park experience.
The strategy aims to increase the length of stay, provide more convenience to visitors, and strengthen the local economy with a more stable flow of tourism.
Penha as a Tourist Hub: More Time in the City, More Turnover in the Economy
With hotels connected to the park and more attractions on the calendar, the idea is for Penha to stop being just a “day trip” and gain a profile as a complete destination, combining accommodation, leisure, and programming for different ages.
The park itself highlights comfort as a central part of the experience, arguing that investing in hospitality was already on the radar to create a more rounded package in which visitors can stay close to the attractions and extend their trip without relying on long commutes.
Constant Reinvention: What Beto Carrero Has Already Delivered in 2025
The billion-dollar expansion comes in a context of recent innovations. In 2025, Beto Carrero inaugurated the Hot Wheels Turbo Drive, an attraction that allows children and adults to drive a full-size car on a track inspired by the toy’s universe.
In the same year, the park opened the largest Pizza Hut location in Brazil, the only themed one installed inside a theme park, with a cowboy ambiance and exclusive flavor in honor of the founder.
This package adds to launches like the show “In the Rhythm of Trolls”, the NERF Mania area, and Cowboyland, which houses the thrilling attraction Rebuliço.
With so many changes on the table, do you think that Beto Carrero will be able to transform Penha into an even bigger tourist hub and also become a global reference in accommodations within a theme park?
