The Night Stalkers, Elite Troops of the U.S. That Killed Bin Laden, Were Seen Operating in the Caribbean Near Venezuela.

In recent days, the appearance of military helicopters from the United States in an area near Venezuela has raised doubts and tensions among international observers. The aircraft belong to the Night Stalkers, an elite group of the American Army specialized in night missions and high-complexity covert operations.

The movement was recorded less than 150 kilometers from the Venezuelan coast and interpreted as part of a tactical training.

However, the squadron’s history — which was involved in the operation that eliminated Osama Bin Laden in 2011 — has reignited the debate over possible new U.S. military actions in the region.

Who Are the Night Stalkers, the Most Feared Troops in Military Aviation

Officially known as the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), the Night Stalkers group emerged in the 1980s, with the mission of conducting high-precision operations, especially at night.

Their name, loosely translated as “Night Hunters,” reflects their dominance in low-visibility flights and quick incursions.

Since the September 11 attacks, the pilots have become central figures in the so-called War on Terror, conducting missions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan.

The squadron employs advanced attack helicopters, such as the MH-60 Black Hawk and the MH-47 Chinook, as well as lightweight models like the MH-6 Little Bird. There are also divisions dedicated to drone usage and military intelligence.

According to author Steven Hartov of the book The Night Stalkers, “these people are the best helicopter pilots in the world… They are the Formula 1 pilots of aviation.”

Operation in the Caribbean: What the U.S. Is Doing Near Venezuela

According to the Washington Post, the Night Stalkers helicopters were spotted conducting maneuvers over the Caribbean Sea, near oil and gas platforms.

Analyzed satellite images indicate the presence of the vessel MV Ocean Trader, a stealth floating base used for launching special operations.

Sources from the U.S. government stated it was training exercises, but analysts believe the movement may be linked to broader plans.

In recent months, Donald Trump has intensified rhetoric against the government of Nicolás Maduro, classified by the U.S. as a “narcoterrorist.”

Maduro in Focus: Possible Intentions of the U.S.

Political scientist Maurício Santoro, who holds a doctorate from Iuperj, assesses that the American discourse may serve as a basis for justifying intervention.

“The Trump administration seems to be trying to build a legal and political case for this. It would be like presenting a war as if it were an operation against drug trafficking, delegitimizing Maduro’s regime,” he states.

This hypothesis is reinforced by the presence of the Night Stalkers in the Caribbean, a group trained specifically for infiltration actions and capturing strategic targets.

Experts believe a possible operation by the U.S. in Venezuela could involve using these helicopters to position elite troops or eliminate high-ranking figures in the regime.

CIA and the Escalation of Covert Actions

In addition to military presence, there are indications of CIA involvement in clandestine missions. According to the Washington Post, Trump authorized the agency to carry out secret operations in Venezuela, aiming to undermine Maduro’s government.

Confidential documents cited by American media reveal that the U.S. president requested “aggressive actions against the Venezuelan government.”

Although the text does not explicitly order Maduro’s overthrow, analysts state that the content opens loopholes for measures that could lead to that outcome.

A New Chapter in Hemispheric Tension

The Night Stalkers, veterans of missions against Bin Laden and other terrorist leaders, now return to the center of the geopolitical chessboard — this time, close to Venezuela.

The presence of the U.S. elite group in the region raises alarms about the escalation of tension between Washington and Caracas.

Meanwhile, the American government maintains its rhetoric of combating trafficking and terrorism, but movements in the Caribbean suggest that the Night Hunters may be awaiting a new mission — one that could once again redefine the boundaries of U.S. power and influence on the continent.
