How Biogas Can Transform Logistics, Reduce CO₂ Emissions, and Make Freight Transport More Sustainable? Learn About the Initiative of Gás Verde and the Impact of This Innovative Solution in Brazil.

Gás Verde Revolutionizes Sustainable Logistics with Biogas

In recent years, the transportation and logistics sector in Brazil has advanced towards a more sustainable energy matrix. In this context, biogas stands out as a promising solution, especially regarding reducing CO₂ emissions.

For this reason, Gás Verde, one of the main producers of this renewable fuel, continues to expand its operations to provide sustainable logistics solutions. Thus, the company directly contributes to the creation of green corridors in freight transport.

Biogas: The Sustainable Alternative for Freight Transport

Currently, biogas is highlighted as a renewable gas produced from the decomposition of urban landfill waste. Additionally, its use drastically reduces greenhouse gas emissions, becoming a viable alternative to fossil fuels such as diesel.

For this reason, Gás Verde already produces about 160 thousand m³ of biogas per day, which allows for fueling various logistical operations in the country.

In addition to prioritizing sustainability, the company invests in expanding the infrastructure needed for the use of this fuel. As a result, it has begun to offer biogas fueling stations along the main highways in the Southeast.

It is worth noting that this region concentrates a significant flow of freight transport in Brazil, which reinforces the importance of this initiative.

Why Is Biogas Essential for a Sustainable Future?

The transition to renewable fuels has been increasingly encouraged by governments and companies concerned about sustainability in the logistics sector.

On the other hand, the use of biogas reduces dependence on fossil fuels and promotes an economically and environmentally responsible alternative.

Moreover, its production utilizes urban waste, avoiding negative impacts on the environment. Thus, promoting this technology aligns with the guidelines to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, driving a more efficient and cleaner freight transport.

Gas-Powered Truck Fleet: Innovation in Sustainable Transport

To reinforce this initiative, Gás Verde, in partnership with Scania, acquired 100 gas-powered trucks. Of this total, 40 are already on the roads and are available for lease.

The main objective, therefore, involves encouraging the use of biogas in freight transport, allowing companies to adopt this technology without the need for significant initial investments.

In addition to offering vehicle leasing, the company also provides maintenance plans. This way, transport companies can adopt the sustainable logistics model more easily.

Another relevant point is that the growing adoption of biogas trucks reinforces the trend of decarbonization in the sector.

After all, transport companies that adopt this model not only reduce emissions but also optimize operational costs.

Success Stories: How Are Large Companies Adopting Biogas?

The strategy of Gás Verde already demonstrates concrete results. In 2023, the company established a partnership with L’Oréal, providing 3.6 million m³ of biogas to fuel a fleet of 13 trucks for the multinational.

These vehicles make an average of 750 monthly trips, connecting the L’Oréal factory, located in Vila Jaguará (SP), to the Distribution Center in Jarinu (SP).

Thanks to this initiative, L’Oréal has reduced its CO₂ emissions by 2.2 thousand tons, reinforcing its commitment to carbon neutrality.

Additionally, biogas also fuels the industrial boilers at the factory, which further minimizes the environmental impact of the operation.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that companies from different sectors are already integrating biogas solutions into their operations.

Thus, the transition to clean and renewable energy strengthens, moving from being just a trend to becoming a growing reality.

The Future of Sustainable Logistics in Brazil

Undoubtedly, the growth of biogas use in logistics proves that ecologically responsible solutions are already part of the strategies of major companies.

In this way, the adoption of this renewable fuel not only reduces the carbon footprint but also provides long-term savings.

As a result, green logistics becomes a viable reality in Brazil.

Furthermore, Gás Verde continues to invest to expand its fueling network and boost the use of renewable gas for trucks.

Thus, the company establishes itself as a reference in the sector. The goal involves increasing the adoption of biogas, replacing diesel and promoting cleaner and more efficient freight transport.

With initiatives like this, Brazil moves towards a more sustainable economy.

In this way, the country reduces its greenhouse gas emissions and develops innovative solutions for the logistics sector.
