BNDES increases investment estimate in Brazil

A study by the BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) points to a growth of 6,8% compared to the previous estimate valid for the period between 2018 and 2021.

The recent success of the oil auction of the 16th round of ANP concessions, made the BNDES revise (upwards) its estimate for the next 4 years, in relation to the investments that will be made in the country.
According to the BNDES, an amount of 1,1 trillion reais will be invested in projects in the 2019-2022 quadrennium.

The announcement made by one of the biggest developers of projects in Brazil makes the market very optimistic about the economic recovery and the resumption of jobs.

The BNDES estimate for 2019-2022 represents an increase of 6,8% in relation to the previous estimate made by the bank itself for the period 2018-2021.
The BNDES is based on projects financed or not by it and found that 11 of them belong to industry and eight to infrastructure. Investment in the period should rise 2,7% (in real values), according to the bank.

On the oil wave

Navigating the wave of optimism that is starting to affect the national oil and gas industry, the BNDES estimate is supported mainly by the auctions of the ANP.

It is worth remembering that in the last ANP auction, held on 10/10, where the union received the record already paid in signing bonuses for a round of concessions.

The recovery in the price of a barrel of oil and the investments that are being made by oil companies now, in blocks that were acquired in rounds in 2017 and 2018, are also reasons for the increase in estimates.
It is worth remembering that still in 2019, more precisely in November, we will have two more auctions, the transfer of rights and the 6th round of pre-salt sharing.

Regarding investments in the infrastructure sector, the forecast is very similar to the annual average of the previous period 2018-2021.
