The Maritime Front Strengthening Plan, which includes Niterói in the composition of a cluster, is divided into five major projects and is expected to be announced on the city's birthday, November 22nd.
Niterói's shipbuilding and oil industries are in sync for the generation of jobs and businesses, where the resumption of Comperj will favor the city. Last week, Petrobras signed a partnership with the Norwegian Equinor for the flow of natural gas through Comperj, at the same time that, Toyo Setal won the tender for works at the Petrochemical Complex, where the estimate is the creation of 5 thousand jobs.
And it doesn't stop there, the Empresa Gerencial de Projetos Navais (Emgepron) announced a joint effort with city halls in Niterói to revive the shipbuilding industry.

The target is the creation of the Rio de Janeiro Naval Technological Cluster, which brings together the maritime hub of Niterói and integrates the oil and gas, port and fishing sectors in order to generate jobs and business.
The cluster project is part of the Niterói Maritime Front Strengthening Plan, which is being developed by the City Hall, through the Municipal Treasury Department and the Nit-Negócios Investment Attraction Agency.
Not only the cluster, but the dredging of the São Lourenço Channel will also benefit the port of Niterói and the entire sector. The plan promises to take the fishing terminal off the ground and develop two other projects: one related to the service chain and the other to the tourist area.
According to the municipal secretary of Finance, Giovanna Victer “Today, the naval sector of Niterói is seen almost as abandoned, scrapped, and once had great potential for job creation”.
“The maritime front has many sectors besides shipyards and shipbuilding, such as oil and gas, tourism, fishing and ship repairs. Emgepron has great expertise in the economy of the sea, so we started a conversation because this plan aims to identify the main potentials to generate employment and prosperity in the sector.” concluded the secretary.
Emgepron's intention is to mobilize the seven cities present around Guanabara Bay (Rio, Niterói, Magé, Duque de Caxias, São Gonçalo, Guapimirim and Itaboraí), with the State of Rio and the Union, to create mechanisms and enable actions for the benefit of the development of the shipbuilding industry.
The cluster created by Emgerpon has as its priority axes the consolidation of the productive chains related to the construction and repair of military and merchant ships, the generation of stimuli for the economy of the sea — such as the sale of nautical charts, hydrographic surveys, dredging, maintenance of vessels, sale of naval assets, dockage and expertise — and subsidize and strengthen the defense industrial base's export platform.
According to the secretary, the launch of the Maritime Front Strengthening Plan comes at a time when investors are making decisions on where they are going to install their operations in the major oil and gas auctions that are being held in the second half of the year.
