The Government Announced the Official Date for the First Payment of Bolsa Família in 2025. Know When Beneficiaries Will Start Receiving the Aid.
The month of January already begins with good news for thousands of Brazilians: the payment of the Bolsa Família, which will be made gradually between January 20 and 31.
The amount of the benefit depends on the family composition and the conditions of each household, being an important assistance for those facing poverty and extreme poverty in the country.
Payment Dates
Caixa Econômica Federal is responsible for the payment of Bolsa Família, and the January calendar follows the end of the NIS (Social Identification Number). Payments will be made in the last ten working days of the month, according to the sequence below:
-
50 viaducts, 4 tunnels, 28 bridges, and 40 kilometers of bike paths: BR-262 in Espírito Santo will receive 8.6 billion reais for the largest engineering project in the state’s history, inspired by the Immigrant Highway in São Paulo.
-
Brazil produces too much clean energy and doesn’t know what to do with it: over 20% of solar and wind capacity was wasted in 2025 while investors flee and 509 renewable generation projects were abandoned in the last year.
-
Piauí will produce a new fuel that replaces diesel without needing to change anything in the truck’s engine and reduces pollutant gas emissions by half: truck drivers from all over the Northeast are already celebrating the news that will arrive later this decade.
-
A new Brazilian shopping center worth R$ 400 million will be built in an area equivalent to more than 4 football fields, featuring 90 stores, 5 cinemas, a supermarket, a college, and parking for 1,700 cars, potentially generating 3,000 jobs.

How to Keep the Registration Updated
To continue receiving the benefit, families must keep their data updated in the Cadastro Único (CadÚnico).
This update should be done every two years, and for that, it is necessary for the family head to visit a social assistance service location, such as CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center), or CadÚnico service units.
Additionally, it is important for families to report any changes in address, family composition, and income. Failure to update could result in the suspension of the benefit.
What is Bolsa Família?
Bolsa Família is a cash transfer program created by the federal government aimed at supporting families in a situation of social vulnerability.
It is managed by the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family, and Fight Against Hunger (MDS) and pays a monthly aid to families that meet the established criteria.
Who Can Receive Bolsa Família?
Families registered in CadÚnico and with a per capita family income (per person) equal to or less than R$ 218 can be beneficiaries of Bolsa Família.
This amount considers the sum of all incomes of household members, excluding certain benefits such as compensations and other cash transfer programs, such as Bolsa Família itself and the Vale-Gás.
Requirements to Receive the Benefit
In addition to the per capita family income, families must meet some requirements in the areas of health and education. These requirements include:
- Prenatal care for pregnant women
- Maintaining the vaccination schedule for children
- Monitoring the nutritional status of children under seven years old
- Minimum school attendance of 60% for children aged 4 to 5 years, and 75% for children and adolescents between 6 and 18 years, if they have not completed basic education.
These conditions are essential for families to continue receiving the benefit.
How is the Payment Made?
Payments are made by Caixa Econômica Federal, which uses the Caixa Tem app to transfer the amounts to beneficiaries. Through the app, it is possible to move the money without the need to go to a branch.
Beneficiaries can pay bills and perform other financial operations directly from the Caixa Tem digital savings account.
For those who prefer to withdraw the amount, the benefit can also be withdrawn at ATMs, lottery retailers, Caixa Aqui correspondents, or bank branches. The beneficiary can also use the Bolsa Família Card or Citizen Card to make the withdrawal.
Value of Bolsa Família
Bolsa Família pays a minimum amount of R$ 600 per month, but this amount can be complemented with other benefits, depending on the family’s situation. Some examples include:
- Citizenship Income Benefit: R$ 142 per family member
- Complementary Benefit: If the family does not reach the minimum of R$ 600, the government pays the difference
- Extraordinary Transition Benefit: If the family received a higher amount in May 2023 than in June 2023, the difference is paid until May 2025
In addition to these, there are also additional benefits for specific groups, such as pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children up to 18 years:
- First Childhood Benefit: R$ 150 for each child between zero and six years old
- Variable Family Benefit: R$ 50 for each child aged seven to 12 years, adolescents aged 12 to 18 years, and for pregnant women
- Variable Family Benefit for Nursing Mothers: R$ 50 for families with babies from zero to six months
Gas Assistance
Another important benefit, the Gas Assistance, was paid in December and the next installment is scheduled for February. The Gas Assistance is bimonthly and is aimed at helping cover the cost of cooking gas, a basic necessity for many families in vulnerable situations.
Bolsa Família is an important public policy that has helped millions of families in a situation of social vulnerability.
Keeping data updated and monitoring the payment calendar are essential actions to ensure that families continue to receive the benefit without setbacks.
With the start of payments in January, beneficiaries should be aware of the dates according to the end of their NIS, to avoid delays or complications in receiving.
