Bolsonaro believes that “the venture will also create jobs and development for the region.”
Bolsonaro has been advocating partnerships with Israel to improve water supply in the Northeast since the transition to his government.
Technicians and officials from the National Water Agency were in Israel at the end of last year to analyze a memorandum of understanding on water resource management, wastewater, sewage management, as well as water reuse and desalination.
Technology to Generate Water Is Not New in Brazil
Engineer Pedro Ricardo Paulino developed a machine capable of generating 5,000 liters of drinking water per day through a high-efficiency condensation process that captures the humidity present in the air and subjects it to a purification process for human consumption.
Paulino is the creator of the “Wateair” machine, a combination of the English words “water” and “air.” The equipment gained prominence during the peak of the water shortage crisis that hit São Paulo in 2014. Since then, the engineer has sold more than 200 units of the machine.
According to Paulino, the “Wateair” absorbs the humidity present in the air, condenses and filters the water, and in the final step, the liquid goes through a process where it receives calcium, magnesium, potassium, and silicon to become drinkable. “All the machine needs to operate is a power source and air humidity above 10% (the minimum recommendation from the World Health Organization, WHO),” says the team’s developer.
