BP Bunge Bioenergia Inaugurates a Fertilizer Plant in São Paulo, Investing R$ 22 Million. The Automated Plant Will Produce Liquid Fertilizers and Enriched Vinasse, Increasing the Productivity and Sustainability of Agricultural Operations.
BP Bunge Bioenergia, one of the leading companies in the sugar-energy sector in Brazil, announced last Friday (05/17) the inauguration of a modern fertilizer plant at the Moema mill, located in Orindiúva, São Paulo. With an investment of R$ 22 million, the new plant is fully automated, which promises to revolutionize liquid fertilizer production, focusing on both efficiency and sustainability.
Production of Foliar Fertilizers and Enrichment of Vinasse Are the Main Productions of the New Plant
The new BP Bunge Bioenergia plant will focus on the production of two specific types of liquid fertilizers.
The first is foliar fertilizers, which function as nutritional supplements and contain essential macro and micronutrients for plants.

When combined with biostimulants and biological inputs, these fertilizers can increase agricultural productivity by 8 to 10 tons per hectare, according to the company.
Another highlight of the new facility is the enrichment of localized vinasse, a byproduct of sugarcane processing.
Rich in potassium, vinasse is crucial for the healthy development of sugarcane fields, helping to increase the longevity and productivity of the plants, as well as preserving soil quality.
Production Capacity of the New BP Bunge Bioenergia Plant
BP Bunge Bioenergia plans that the liquid fertilizer production from the new plant will meet the demand of seven of the company’s 11 mills in Brazil, covering a total of 300 thousand hectares.
Regarding enriched vinasse, the production capacity will be sufficient to cover 45 thousand hectares, directly benefiting the Moema and Guariroba units, located in Pontes Gestal, São Paulo.
The 100% automated operation is one of the main differentiators of the new plant.
According to Rogério Bremm, agricultural director of BP Bunge Bioenergia, automation ensures precision and efficiency in all production processes, eliminating the need for manual interventions.
“The new fertilizer plant has a fully technological structure, without any type of manual process, ensuring precision throughout the production system”, says Bremm.
Company Seeks Alignment with Sustainability and Cost Reduction
This new initiative is part of BP Bunge Bioenergia’s regenerative management project, aligning with one of the company’s main institutional pillars: the use of technology to increase operational efficiency and productivity.
In addition to environmental benefits, in-house fertilizer production is expected to bring significant cost reductions.
The expectation is that the new operation will eliminate expenses with dilution and transportation of inputs, which were previously purchased from external suppliers.
The company estimates savings of up to 40% with internal production.
“With the decrease of these costs, we intend, for example, to direct investments to further enhance the biostimulation process of sugarcane fields through the use of the foliar fertilizers we are producing ourselves,” adds Bremm.
Customization and Future of Fertilizer Production
Another advantage of the new fertilizer plant of BP Bunge Bioenergia is the possibility of customizing formulas according to the specific needs of each mill.
This personalization is expected to materialize in a second phase of the project, ensuring greater accuracy and efficiency in agricultural processes.
With this initiative, BP Bunge Bioenergia reinforces its commitment to innovation and sustainability, positioning itself as a leader in the Brazilian sugar-energy sector.
The new fertilizer plant at the Moema mill represents an important step for the company, both in terms of productivity and environmental responsibility.
