With a Focus on Cutting-Edge Military Technology, United Arab Emirates Establish Strategic Partnership with the Brazilian Navy, Placing the Country at the Center of Global Innovation and Revolutionizing the Future of Defense and Security.
The United Arab Emirates has been attracting global attention for its innovations in tourism and sports, but it is in military technology that the country seeks to consolidate its position as a global defense hub. At the center of this movement is the EDGE Group, a holding company that has been revolutionizing the sector with impressive advances since 2019 and, more recently, strengthening ties with Brazil, becoming a strategic partner of the Brazilian Navy.
The EDGE Group and the Revolution in Military Technology
Founded with the aim of granting the United Arab Emirates autonomy in defense, the EDGE Group brought together 25 local companies to create an innovation ecosystem in aerospace and military technology. In five years, the group’s portfolio grew from 30 to over 200 solutions, including drones, smart missiles, and naval vehicles. With a presence in 91 countries and annual revenue of US$ 4.9 billion, EDGE has become a giant in the sector.
One of the group’s most notable strategies is its focus on strategic acquisitions. Among the main target markets are Africa, Asia, and Latin America, with Brazil being the first country outside the United Arab Emirates to receive a regional office.

The New Innovation Center for EDGE
The entry of the EDGE Group into Brazil in April 2023 marked the beginning of a massive investment in the country. With around R$ 3 billion already invested, the holding acquired stakes in companies like Condor, specialized in non-lethal weapons, and SIATT, focused on smart missile technology. According to Rodrigo Torres, EDGE’s CFO, Brazil is seen as strategic for both product development and export.
“Brazilian companies such as SIATT have highly competitive technologies but face difficulties scaling due to limitations in the local market. When we come in as partners, we can inject resources and expand the global reach of these products,” explains Torres.
In addition to strengthening the Brazilian Navy with hypersonic missiles and anti-drone systems, EDGE has contributed to projects in public safety and secure communication in the Amazon, in partnership with CENSIPAM, an agency of the Ministry of Defense.
United Arab Emirates: Missiles, Drones, and Public Safety
One of EDGE’s most promising projects in Brazil is the co-development of hypersonic and anti-ship MANSUP missiles for the Brazilian Navy. These missiles, designed with high precision, have the potential to significantly strengthen the country’s naval defense. Another highlight is the development of anti-drone technologies, a crucial area for both military and civil security.
SIATT, one of the companies acquired by EDGE, is developing a missile with a range of up to 200 km. The goal is to make it competitive not only in the Brazilian market but also globally. Condor, which already exports to 85 countries, is being used as a bridge to expand the commercialization of other products from the group.
EDGE is also eyeing the public safety sector. A team based in São Paulo is working to adapt military technologies for urban use, with potential applications in states throughout Brazil.
Expansion Through Latin America
Although Brazil is the main focus of EDGE in Latin America, other countries in the region are also on the group’s radar. Paraguay, Colombia, Peru, and Panama have been identified as markets with high demand for defense and public safety solutions.
“Argentina has enormous potential for naval growth, while Colombia and Peru face specific public safety challenges that we can help address,” affirms Torres.
This expansion is facilitated by the fact that EDGE is a state-owned enterprise of the United Arab Emirates, allowing for a long-term approach without the need for immediate returns.
The Impact of the United Arab Emirates on Brazilian Defense
EDGE’s presence in Brazil represents more than financial investments. It is an opportunity to integrate innovative technologies with local needs and open new possibilities for export. With the support of the holding, Brazilian defense companies can reach markets that were previously inaccessible.
Moreover, the partnership strengthens Brazil’s position as a leader in Latin America in military technology. Whether in the development of missiles, drones, or secure communication systems, collaboration with the United Arab Emirates is an important step towards modernizing national defense and enhancing the country’s competitiveness on the global stage.
A Partnership That Looks to the Future
The United Arab Emirates are not just exporting their military technology to Brazil; they are also learning and collaborating with local companies to create joint solutions. This knowledge exchange promises to transform both the Brazilian defense sector and the global security landscape.
With initiatives such as the co-production of missiles and the application of public safety technologies, Brazil is establishing itself as a significant strategic partner for EDGE. And, as the holding continues to expand its presence in Latin America, it is clear that the combination of innovation from the United Arab Emirates and Brazilian potential has all the ingredients for a successful formula.
After all, when it comes to military technology and defense, the future is being built now — and Brazil is at the center of this transformation.
