Brazil's Ministry of Mines and Energy has announced that it will hold two energy auctions on December 6th, this time to contract energy from existing facilities.
The government confirmed that the energy auctions, dubbed A-1 and A-2, are confirmed through a decree recently published in the Official Gazette, January 1 and January 2020, 1, respectively.
In addition to biomass and natural gas, the government has not specified other energy sources. The energy will be traded in the regulated market in Brazil in the forms of volume (A-1) and availability (A-2) of electric energy. Brazil will hold a power auction on October 17th for 100.874 MW of already registered renewable energy projects.
