Half of the investments will be in Rio Grande do Norte and will be made by Chinese who already operate hydroelectric plants in Minas Gerais and wind farms in Paraíba
The northeast is really the center of attention when it comes to wind energy, after Siemens signed a supply contract for 27 turbines for a park in Bhaia, the Chinese State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), through its vice president, Anjian Lu, participated in a meeting with the governor of the State of Rio Grande do Norte, Fátima Bezerra, last Friday, July 26th and announced investments of R$ 2 billion in the state.
In all, the company will invest R$ 4 billion in the Northeast, where it already operates two wind farms, in the state of Paraíba.
SPIC also operates in the southeast, where it operates the São Simão hydroelectric plants, in Minas Gerais, but it is in the northeast that it will invest this time.
With offices in Rio Grande do Norte and 15 employees, the Chinese company wants to invest in wind and solar energy, with the implementation of a technology development and improvement center and a factory of products and inputs for energy generation.

The role of each part
The participation of the Government of the state of Rio Grande do Norte is to accelerate the release of environmental licenses and grant incentives so that SPIC's plans to start investing later this year come to fruition.
The governor of Rio Grande do Norte left the meeting very optimistic and declared that: “Investors are very welcome. Our state is rich in natural resources, but it needs investments to transform them into employment, income and wealth for our people”.
The governor's speech is in line with the planning of the Chinese company, which declared through its vice-president: “Rio Grande do Norte is the best place in the Northeast for us to invest. Our business is to explore the generation of wind and solar energy. We are also manufacturers of products and inputs for energy parks and we want to set up a factory here”.
It was agreed at the meeting between the parties that a term of commitment will be signed defining the attributions of the parties and strategies so that investments can begin.
The term is being prepared by the State Secretariat for Economic Development (Sedec), whose secretary, Jaime Calado, declared that Rio Grande do Norte, with its 162 parks, is today the largest producer of wind energy in the country, but has the potential to produce 25 GW.
