New Bugatti Engine Announced and It Will Be a Plug-In Hybrid. The Expectation Is That the New Engine from the Brand Will Offer 1,800 HP, Revolutionizing the Automotive Industry.
Purist consumers may be disappointed, but Bugatti has confirmed that the successor to the Bugatti Chiron will be electrified. In a recent teaser video released by the brand, it was revealed that the new plug-in hybrid engine from Bugatti will be a true revolution in the automotive industry. In the video, details of the carbon fiber-covered design can be seen, and the powerful roar of the engine can even be heard. The new engine will have 16 cylinders arranged in a “V,” replacing the traditional “W” configuration, promising to combine power and cutting-edge technology.
Automotive Industry Surprised by Bugatti Engine Capable of Offering 1,800 HP
Despite the teaser, the brand did not disclose additional details. The circulating information comes from rumors and indicates that the new plug-in hybrid engine was developed by Cosworth with at least 8.3 liters of displacement.
It may feature aspiration, as the video suggests a new high-revving Bugatti engine (the estimate is 9,000 RPM) and will have the assistance of three electric motors to generate a combined power of 1,800 HP.

Regarding the car as a whole, there is also a lot of anticipation. The supercar will be completely new (and not an evolution of the Veyron and Chiron) and the last designed by Achim Anscheidt, the design director of Bugatti since 2004.
The executive will leave the French manufacturer after supervising and signing the creation of cars like the Veyron Super Sport, Grand Sport Vitesse, and Hermès, among others. In addition, Anscheidt was the mentor for several concepts, such as the Galibier, the Chiron itself, and other names like Centodieci, Divo, Bolide, Mistral, and La Voiture Noire. That’s quite a legacy.
New Plug-In Hybrid Engine Will Be Longer Than Traditional Engines
With his retirement, Frank Heyl ascended from the position of deputy director to lead Bugatti’s design team. Regarding the successor to the Chiron, Heyl has already made several exciting statements. According to him, it will be incredible proportionally, technologically, in terms of innovation, and in terms of unpredictability.

“The car with the new Bugatti engine will make people ‘go crazy’ completely, and it is a true pleasure to work on this”, stated Frank Heyl.
The CEO of Bugatti-Rimac shared some details about the new supercar during the Future of the Car Summit in London. One of them is that the new plug-in hybrid engine will not feature turbocharger assistance, and will be naturally aspirated. The update follows the opposite path of the brand’s quad-turbo configuration, for example.
Additionally, the new engine from Bugatti in the automotive industry will be 41 cm longer than the old W16, reaching nearly 1 meter in length, for instance. Designed to have hybrid assistance, the assembly will go into production as soon as the Bolide and Mistral models finish their respective lines.
Plug-In Hybrid Engine Will Have 60 KM Electric Range
It is possible that two motors will assist the front wheels of the model, while the third one will assist the rear wheels.
The latter, however, is connected to the eight-speed automated transmission with dual clutch. If what has been reported is correct, there will also be a 24.8 kWh battery, with a capacity for 60 km of electric range.
According to further information, Bugatti’s model in the automotive industry will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about two seconds, and reach 200 km/h in under five. With an electronically limited top speed of 446 km/h, the new Bugatti will be limited: only 250 units will be manufactured.
With an estimated arrival around 2026, the model will be, above all, expensive: its price will be at least €3.6 million, equivalent to about R$ 19,953,747 when converted to our currency.
