BYD Expands Use Of 800-Volt Electric Motor With Megawatt Flash Charge And Improves Energy Efficiency In New Models.
A BYD has decided to expand, this year, the adoption of its most powerful intermediate electric motor, a 240 kW propeller aimed at the brand’s mid-range models, in a move that reorganizes its global portfolio and accelerates the transition to new generation vehicles.
The new feature will equip several models sold in China, according to industry sources, and marks an important step in the company’s technological standardization.
The decision comes as BYD seeks to enhance performance, improve energy efficiency, and prepare its fleet for ultrafast charging systems.

More Powerful Electric Motor Equips More BYD Models
The 240 kW (326 hp) electric motor, internally identified as TZ200XYAT, will be incorporated into the Seal 07 EV, Seal 06 GT, Seal 06 EV, Qin Max, Han EV, and the utility Ti3.
Thus, BYD increases the presence of this technology across different segments, reinforcing its goal of gradually updating its product line with more modern solutions.
This expansion demonstrates how the company intends to elevate performance standards across various model categories, while maintaining controlled costs through the standardization of strategic components.
800-Volt Architecture Boosts Energy Efficiency
The new propeller operates under an 800-Volt architecture, a platform that reduces electrical losses and allows the motor to work with better energy efficiency.
This technical advancement also provides greater thermal stability, a crucial point for high-performance vehicles.
In addition to the high voltage, the system has been optimized with improvements in energy management, more precise electronic controls, and thinner materials in the stator.
BYD explains that direct cooling and compact windings directly contribute to energy efficiency gains in real use.
Megawatt Flash Charge Technology Prepares Cars For Ultrafast Charging
Another highlight is compatibility with the Megawatt Flash Charge system, technology designed to provide extremely fast charging. With it, models equipped with the electric motor will be able to significantly reduce the time needed to restore range.
This capability makes the motor a key component in the company’s path towards next-generation electric platforms capable of operating at higher power levels and serving an increasingly demanding audience.
What Technologies Accompany BYD’s Electric Motor
The brand also explains that the set uses silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors, already present in recent models from the company. SiC improves electrical control and reduces heating, both essential factors for enhancing energy efficiency.
The motor is also part of BYD’s high-power propulsion family, which includes variants specially designed for configurations with two motors and a focus on sports performance.
Motor Is Compatible With BYD’s New Platforms
According to BYD, the broader adoption of the set is possible because it was developed to operate on modern platforms, such as the e-Platform 3.0 Evo and the structure of 1,000 volts prepared for megawatt-level charging.
This flexibility reinforces the company’s long-term plan to create a unified base of systems, allowing different vehicles to share advanced technologies and reducing the development time for new models.
Use Goes Beyond Passenger Cars
Although the initial focus is on passenger vehicles, BYD indicates that the electric motor could also equip commercial vehicles and electric buses.
This demonstrates the versatility of the propeller and its ability to meet more intensive operations while maintaining high energy efficiency.
This possibility expands the global reach of the technology and strengthens the brand’s presence in sectors that require robustness and reliability.
Expansion Prepares BYD For The Next Generation Of Vehicles
With this update, BYD brings to more models an electric motor that combines high power, 800-volt architecture, and compatibility with Megawatt Flash Charge.
This way, the company consolidates its strategy of building a more efficient line ready for the future of electric mobility.
This decision also positions the brand at the forefront of ultrafast charging solutions, making its vehicles more competitive in markets that value innovation and performance.
