Movement Was Organized Through Messaging App and Is Against New Freight Rules That Came Into Effect Last Saturday, Government Revokes Measure and Strike Loses Momentum
Truck drivers blocked BR-230, the stretch that accesses the hinterland of the state to the city of Campina Grande. They are asking for a higher adjustment in the freight value and complaining about the amount published in the ANTT table.
The group is also asking for a reduction in the price of diesel. Trucks with live cargo and perishable food are being released, as well as passenger cars.
The movement is autonomous, without the participation of unions, and was organized through WhatsApp. There is no forecast for the end of the protest.
The category still does not have consensus on the strike, but dissatisfaction with the freight table announced on Thursday (18) by ANTT (National Land Transport Agency) and that came into effect last Saturday, July 20, is spreading among truck drivers.

Under pressure, the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Freitas, said in a message sent to the truck drivers that the government will revoke the freight table, and next Wednesday there will be another meeting with the category to adjust the charging terms.
The government claims that the rules were widely discussed with the category, but the new freight table is being heavily criticized by truck drivers across Brazil.
The Freight Table
The minimum freight price table was demanded during the truck drivers’ strike last year. Until this Saturday, the method used only took into account the distance traveled.
Now, factors such as loading and unloading time, truck depreciation costs, among others, will also be included in the calculation. However, truck drivers claim that the new values are not adequate and only cover costs without generating revenue.
