New Mid-Size SUV from Caoa Chery Combines High Power with Fuel Efficiency and Advanced Technology.

The Caoa Chery Tiggo 8 2025 arrives in the Brazilian market offering two main versions: the Pro Max Drive, equipped with a 1.6 turbo gasoline engine, and the Pro Plug-In Hybrid, which features a plug-in hybrid setup with a combined power of 317 horsepower.

The model stands out as a mid-size SUV capable of seating seven occupants, maintaining generous dimensions and an advanced technological package, including features from the ADAS package, which includes electronic assistants for safety and comfort while driving.

Engine and Performance of the Pro Max Drive Version

The Pro Max Drive version has under the hood a 1.6 turbo four-cylinder engine, capable of generating 187 hp and torque of 28 kgfm.

The transmission is a dual-clutch automated system with seven gears, and traction is limited to the front axle.

As a result, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of around 180 km/h.

In dimensional terms, the Tiggo 8 measures 4.72 meters in length, 1.86 meters in width, 1.70 meters in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.71 meters, ensuring interior space for seven passengers.

The trunk offers 889 liters in the five-seat configuration, reducing to 193 liters when all seats in the third row are in use.

The fuel tank can hold 51 liters, which limits its range on long trips.

According to Inmetro, this version has a fuel consumption of 10 km/l in the city and 12.5 km/l on the highway.

Equipment and Safety of the Pro Max Drive Version

The finish of the Tiggo 8 Pro Max Drive features equipment such as a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, a multimedia system with a 12.3-inch screen, GPS navigation, a Sony sound system with eight speakers, and voice command connectivity.

There are also comfort and practicality features, such as a panoramic sunroof, front seats with electric adjustments, heating and ventilation, wireless smartphone charger, and parking sensors.

In terms of safety, the SUV is equipped with six airbags and the Max Drive ADAS package, which includes systems such as front and rear collision alerts, lane-keeping assistance, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, among others.

The Pro Plug-In Hybrid version offers a hybrid setup consisting of a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine that generates 147 hp and torque of 22.4 kgfm, combined with an electric motor that adds 170 hp to the total power.

The hybrid system results in 317 hp and combined torque above 56 kgfm, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in about 7.2 seconds.

The top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h.

The fuel tank of this version is larger, with a capacity of 60 liters, which combined with the electric motor allows for more efficient consumption.

According to official data, the Tiggo 8 plug-in hybrid can achieve an average equivalent of up to 33.6 km/l in the city and 27.7 km/l on the highway.

Technology and Comfort in the Hybrid Version

In addition to similar dimensions to the combustion version, the Tiggo 8 plug-in hybrid features a package of equipment focused on comfort and technology, highlighting the 12.3-inch digital and multimedia dashboard, wireless connections for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, head-up display, massage seats, and leg support for the front passenger, Sony sound system, 540º camera with ground view, and panoramic sunroof.

The air conditioning system is dual-zone automatic digital, with air outlets for the rear seats.

Also present are a wireless smartphone charger, rain and twilight sensors, drive mode selector (Eco, Normal, and Sport), auto-dimming rearview mirror, and parking sensors at both ends of the vehicle.

Safety and Driving Assistants in the Plug-In Hybrid Version

In terms of safety, the ADAS package of the hybrid version includes the main systems already present in the Max Drive version, such as adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, front collision alert, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure alert, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitor, and safe exit alert, which notifies the driver of approaching vehicles or bicycles when opening the doors.

History and Production of the Tiggo 8

The Caoa Chery Tiggo 8 is one of the oldest models in the manufacturer’s lineup in Brazil, having been officially launched in the country in 2020.

Since then, it has undergone facelifts, with the hybrid plug-in and combustion versions receiving standardized visuals in 2024, bringing the design of the different configurations closer together.

The plug-in hybrid version, which was initially imported from China, maintains this status, while the combustion versions are produced at the Caoa Chery factory in Anápolis, Goiás.

Does the Tiggo 8 2025 have the potential to become a leader among seven-seat hybrid SUVs in Brazil, or does it still face challenges to gain popularity against traditional competitors?
