Are You Thinking of Buying a Used Car This Year in 2024? If Your Answer Is Yes, Know That This Article Is Made Especially for You, as We Have Separated Three Tips on How Not to Fall for Scams When Buying the Dream Vehicle.

Currently, the creativity of scammers when it comes to selling cars has evolved more and more, leading these individuals to use countless tricks to gain an advantage in this process.

According to Stefano Mazzaferro, Sales Director at Kovi, today, the most common forms of scams happen through website cloning, asking for a deposit to provide a false guarantee of priority in purchasing, and special offers for being a relative of an employee at a car manufacturer.

During an interview with the portal “Garagem 360,” the expert provided tips on how to avoid scams. Based on these tips, Click Pétroleo e Gás has separated the three main ones.

Tips to Avoid Falling for Scams When Buying a Used Car

According to the expert, first and foremost, it’s important for those interested in buying a used car to seek a trustworthy dealership for the acquisition of the vehicle.

In this sense, he emphasizes that it’s essential for the buyer to choose a company that values transparency and has a history of care, especially regarding after-sales service.

1- Check the Vehicle Documentation

The expert states that the first tip, which must never be ignored, relates to the documentation of the desired car.

According to him, it is advisable to ask for the vehicle documentation to check for any fines, confirm the ownership of the vehicle, and obtain other information that could cause headaches in the future.

2- Complete Inspection of the Vehicle

Another important point highlighted by Mazzaferro is the inspection. According to him, it is of utmost importance, before the purchase, to ascertain if there are any operational irregularities in the vehicle.

As the Sales Director at Kovi states, at this stage, it is worthwhile to evaluate issues such as worn parts and structural aspects like dented bodywork, scratched paint, among others.

3- Inquire About the Car History

Finally, the expert notes that it’s important for those interested in buying a used car to seek information about the vehicle’s maintenance, ensuring that everything is in order. Mazzaferro explains that, at this point, it will be possible to understand if the cars came from a good source, if they have required safety equipment, and if they are well-maintained.

Is Buying a Used Car Worth It? See How to Know

A common question is whether it is worth or not to buy a used car. According to the expert, to know if the purchase is worthwhile, it is advisable to follow the tips given earlier.

Additionally, he explains that regarding the ideal time to buy, the end of the month is the best time to purchase a new car.

According to him, this period is most favorable because salespeople are concerned about commissions and targets, which ends up creating very special conditions for potential buyers.

Best Websites for Selling Used Cars

Today, there are countless options available in the market for buying used cars. Online, for instance, the most well-known websites are Webmotors, iCarros, and Autoline.
