Chery iCar Receives Design Updates and Aims for Leadership in the Automotive Market, with Chery Models Available Starting at R$ 41 Thousand.
The Chery iCar, known in the Chinese market as Chery Little Ant, which quickly shifted from protagonist to supporting role in Brazil’s electric vehicle market, saw a price reduction in China. This price change occurred even after the vehicle received an update for the 2024 line a few months ago. This price decrease also applies to the QQ Ice Cream, its younger and more affordable sibling model.
Chery Cars with Discounts Arrive at R$ 41 Thousand
The subcompact Chery Little Ant is sold in the automotive market in China in four versions, with prices ranging from 59,900 to 74,900 yuan, equivalent to R$ 41 thousand and R$ 51,400 in direct conversion. The discount on Chery cars ranged from 5,000 to 8,000 yuan, depending on the trim.
To keep the Chery iCar competitive against rivals such as the GM-Wuling Mini EV, the brand applied a slight update to the exterior and new features inside, which became more modern.

The shapes of the front and rear were remodeled, including a more robust design for the front bumper, removing the narrow open grille at the top of the front bar but adding a triangular finish on both sides.
Another important change is the latest QQ logo. Notably, the version that retains the current design of the front panel will also be maintained, and depending on the configuration difference, the top-of-the-line model will provide a vertical light strip in the fog light housing position.
New Chery iCar Delivers Up to 61 Horsepower
The powertrain of the discounted Chery cars remains the same: an electric motor mounted on the rear axle with 45 kW (61 horsepower) and 15.3 kgfm of maximum torque powered by a battery of up to 30 kWh, sufficient for a 0 to 50 km/h acceleration in 6 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 100 km/h. In terms of range, the Chery iCar is sold in the Chinese automotive market in two options with 251 km and 321 km, respectively, according to the CLTC cycle.
In Brazil, there is only one version with an approved range of 197 km by Inmetro. Launched in June 2022, the Cao Chery iCar reached the top of the electric car sales ranking in September, then plummeted to the bottom positions.
The debut of new competitors, such as the BYD Dolphin, further complicated the situation for discounted Chery cars, as the model had entered the market at R$ 139,990, later becoming more expensive and only after experiencing some reductions. Currently, it is the cheapest electric vehicle in Brazil at R$ 119,990 and still did not sell well.
Chery Ice Cream Also Undergoes Modifications
After nearly two years in the market, the Chery QQ Ice Cream underwent a slight visual refresh in August of last year. As a direct rival to the Wuling Mini EV, the urban car from Chery can accommodate up to four people and measures 2,980 mm in length, 1,537 mm in height, 1,496 mm in width, with a wheelbase of only 1,960 mm.
The rear follows the pattern of the front and focuses on creating a layered feel. Additionally, it adopts an optical set with polygonal taillights, with the interior featuring a U-shaped cavity, giving it a unique profile.
