Nowadays, the activities of Chevron in Brazil consist essentially of exploring fossil fuels in deep waters and producing oil and gas through its operational portfolios divided into 3 specific segments: Chevron Brazil Upstream Frade, which manages exploration systems; Chevron Brazil Lubricants, which manufactures and distributes lubricants; and Chevron Oronite, which handles the chemical additives sector.
Since 1997, the company has been investing and conducting hydrocarbon exploration and production operations in Brazil, following the decision of government entities that opened the market for large multinational companies, such as Chevron, to set up and generate jobs in the sector. At this moment, the company is involved in 4 production system projects in water depths below 100m on national territory.
Chevron operates in the Campos Basin, holding a 51.74% stake in this asset, which had its first extraction in 2019. It also collaborates with Petrobras in the Papa Terra and Maromba fields, with 37.5% and 30%, respectively. In the CE-M715 block, located in the Ceará Basin, it holds half of the exploration and production rights, also partnering with Ecopetrol from Colombia.
