In Addition To Advancing Resource Extraction, The Drilling Of This Well Represents A Major Leap For Geological And Climate Studies, Allowing Scientists To Explore The Earth’s History And Its Evolution Over Millions Of Years.
The Challenge Of The Tarim Basin
The Tarim Basin Is The Largest Oil And Gas Reservoir In China In Deep Water. It Is Estimated That 83.2% Of Deep Oil Resources And 63.9% Of Natural Gas Are Buried More Than 6,000 Meters Deep. However, Exploring This Wealth Is A Monumental Challenge Due To Complex Geological Structures And Extreme Environmental Conditions.
The Region Is Surrounded By The Tianshan And Kunlun Mountains, And Its Surface Is Marked By Extreme Temperatures And Hostile Terrain. To Enable The Drilling Of “Shenditake 1”, It Was Necessary To Develop Specific Technologies, Including A Robust Drilling System Capable Of Withstanding High Pressures And Temperatures Above 210ºC.
