Geely Introduces New Model to China’s Electric Car Market With 41 Horsepower. The Low-Cost Electric Vehicle Features 150 km Range and Will Enter the Automotive Industry at a Price Equivalent to R$ 30 Thousand.

Urban electric cars are increasingly present in the Chinese market, and to attract consumers, automakers innovate in every way they can. Geely, a giant company from China, revealed last week its model titled ‘Panda Mini‘, the next affordable electric car, compact with a toy-like appearance, room for four people, and a two-door body. To live up to its name, the model incorporates some unique features reminiscent of giant pandas.

The round headlights resemble the eyes of the Panda, which is a symbol in China. The three-spoke wheel design has also been developed to resemble the animal’s footprints, and the bumpers are slightly projected.

Looking at the model from the front, we get the impression that the car is smiling. Available in various color options, the model measuring 3 m long, 1.5 m wide, and 1.6 m high is also the first to feature a panoramic sunroof in its category.

The small model made its debut at a shopping center in Hangzhou. The stand featured a pink backdrop, balloons, many images of pandas, and two units of the electric car painted in pink and blue.

With a relatively square structure, the front grille of the model is fully closed, housing the charging port in a central compartment. As for its performance, the model features a front 30 kW electric motor and a lithium iron phosphate battery, another area where the company is also investing. Its battery provides a range of approximately 150 km, a value similar to other brands in the country, and sufficient for commuting in urban centers.

‘Budget’ Electric Car Would Cost the Equivalent of R$ 30 Thousand in Brazil

In addition to the “friendly” appearance, thanks to its rounded shapes and the round light clusters that dominate the front section, other references to the panda include mirrors shaped like ears and the rear bumpers. The acronym Geome on the front of the vehicle is likely a reference to Geometry, which is one of Geely’s sub-brands.

The cabin accommodates four people, as previously mentioned, and offers great visibility thanks to the panoramic roof. The interior features a dashboard with a large touchscreen for the infotainment system, several storage compartments, a digital instrument panel, and an area dedicated to climate controls. The Geely electric car will be launched in the Chinese market next year, with prices ranging from €5414 to €6767.

This is not the first time the company has used the Panda designation, as it was utilized for a small combustion engine model similar to the Toyota Aygo between 2008 and 2016. However, the company’s ultra-compact model could also be a strong candidate for the dubious list of the world’s ugliest cars.

Geely Develops Drone for Automobiles

Drones hold great importance considering their aerial perspective, providing a broader geographic view to humans in a simple, quick, and inexpensive manner. This set of advantages has driven the market for these devices, and now there are those who want to associate them with cars, like Geely.

The Geely car drone patent is quite interesting. Moreover, it will not be an add-on that can be attached to the car; it is a standard feature. According to the company’s patent, the drone will be installed in a special compartment on the engine cover that can be opened and closed, being used to take off or land the drone.
