Confirmation of Chinese Group Was Given to the Governor of the State During Visit to China and Will Involve Solar and Wind Energy Projects
The Governor of the State of Bahia, Rui Costa, affiliated with the PT, managed to attract significant investment for the state during his visit to China.
The deal involves figures on the order of R$ 1 Billion with the Chinese group CGN Energy International Holdings and includes investments in wind energy and solar energy projects in Bahia, in the regions of Caetité, Tanque Novo, Morrinhos, and Bom Jesus da Lapa.
The confirmation of the investment was given by the governor on his social media, last Wednesday (05/15), during the last day of the Bahian politician’s visit to China, where he closed the deal with the company’s president, Zeng Qi Bo.

The governor celebrated the agreement made with the Chinese and stated: “A wonderful piece of news. An investment of R$ 1 billion in wind energy and solar energy in Bahia, in the regions of Caetité, Tanque Novo, Morrinhos, and Bom Jesus da Lapa. We are returning to Brazil today even happier than when we left, with so many investments we are bringing to Bahia”.
At the end of June, the Chinese will come to Brazil to finalize the agreement and detail how the investment will be made in the state of Bahia.
Asian Venture
This is not the first venture by the Chinese in Bahia or in the state’s renewable energy segment.
Recently, the Chinese announced business with the Italian company Enel Green Power, which involved the purchase of two renewable energy plants in Bahia, the solar park in Bom Jesus da Lapa and the wind farm in Cristalândia.
Samples of Asian appetite in Brazil have been increasingly frequent, earlier this month, a meeting was held with Singaporean businessmen at FIRJAN, who were in Rio de Janeiro and met with Brazilian businessmen and institutions aiming for cooperation agreements in the Oil and Gas sector.
