The Years 2021 and 2022 Were Marked by a 50% Growth in Natural Gas Consumers in the State. Cigás Is Preparing an Infrastructure Construction Plan to Meet Fuel Consumption in Amazonas.

The Amazonas Gas Company (Cigás) is keeping an eye on the growth of the natural gas market in the northern state of the country. Between the years 2021 and 2022, there was a 50% expansion in the number of consumers of the fuel in the state. Thus, the company has a plan for infrastructure construction for the expansion of the gas pipeline network prepared for the year 2023, aiming to meet the high demand in the regional market.

Amazonas Market Experienced a 50% Growth in Natural Gas Consumers Between 2021 and 2022, According to Cigás Surveys

The fuel market, especially natural gas, is becoming increasingly relevant in the national scenario.

However, some states are achieving surprising results given the current socioeconomic context in the country, such as Amazonas.

According to surveys by Cigás, the number of natural gas consumers in the state increased by about 50% between 2021 and 2022.

By December 2021, the number of contracted units was 8,394, while by December 2022, the number jumped to 12,651 units.

The segments served by the company in the region include thermoelectric, industrial, vehicular, commercial, residential, and self-generation/liquefaction.

Cigás is thus witnessing accelerated growth in fuel consumption throughout Amazonas and is preparing for the coming months of 2023.

This is because the projected growth of consumer units remains high, with expectations of an expansion of about 30% this year. As a result, it is expected to surpass the mark of 16 thousand users.

Infrastructure Construction Plan for the Natural Gas Distribution Network to Consumer Units Began in 2022 and Is Expected to Extend Until the End of 2023

To ensure the safety of natural gas supply in Amazonas, Cigás is now preparing an infrastructure construction plan for the state network.

Thus, several fronts of action are planned, called construction pockets to expand the gas pipeline network in the streets and avenues of the northern, southern, eastern, and central-western zones of the city.

Cigás was already preparing throughout 2022 to ensure adequate infrastructure for the expansion of natural gas consumer units in Amazonas.

Thus, it began its construction plan last year, extending to the present, with an expected completion still in the first half of 2023.

The construction projects are: Max Teixeira pockets, Industrial District (stage 3), Eliza Miranda (stage 1), and Dom Pedro (third stage).

Now, Cigás continues with the construction plan to ensure the necessary infrastructure for the strong growth in natural gas consumer units in the state.
