Citroën Announces Launch Of New Electric Car Focused On Urban Environment. Electric Vehicle Delivers 8 Horsepower And Has 5.4 KWh Battery That Provides 74 Km Range.
Citroën recently presented a new version of the My Ami Buggy, its compact electric car with the price value of a popular car. Citroën’s Electric Car Has 5.4 KWh Battery
The new Buggy is based on the manufacturer’s Ami vehicle, which is 2.41 meters long and was launched in 2020 for US$ 6 thousand, which currently is around R$ 30 thousand.
With a more robust design, yet within the standard, the new Buggy has no doors or windows but features plastic covers and folded waterproof fabric to protect passengers. The new electric car will come with a 5.4 kWh battery and an 8-horsepower motor, promising a range of up to 74 km and a maximum speed of 45 km/h.

Thanks to the concept that supports it and its accessibility, the small electric car revolutionized mobility when launched, selling 30 thousand units in nine countries. According to Citroën, small changes were made to the Ami’s battery some time ago, and now it operates more effectively in cold weather conditions, further improving the customer experience and opening new prospects for other destinations.
The new limited edition of the ultra-compact electric car with a 5.4 kWh battery will be available in the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Luxembourg, Morocco, and Turkey. In the United Kingdom, a batch of 40 units will be sold online on June 20th.
Citroën Ami Draws Attention In Brazil
For those who cannot get the limited edition, the company still offers the 100% electric AMI, starting at R$ 49,727. According to Citroën, over 35 thousand units of this model have already been sold worldwide.
The new version of the vehicle will be similar to the first, but with some new features. It will maintain its personality, which emphasizes a style with tubular doors and a convertible roof, allowing for greater interaction between occupants and the environment.
Being attractive and interesting for urban environments, the electric car has drawn attention here in Brazil, where the microcar has already participated in some events and exhibitions. The Ami features pigmented plastic panels that eliminate the need for paint. The piece that is part of the front is the same as the rear, as well as the doors, which have inverted openings between the sides.
Citroën Develops Cardboard Electric Car
The Oli, an electric car from the manufacturer that combines pickup and SUV models, was revealed by the brand last year and is seen as a rolling laboratory to test new technologies focused on advancing the sector. Among the innovations, the manufacturer used a rather specific strategy to keep the car lighter: using cardboard in its construction.
The vehicle’s parts, including the hood, rear cargo bed panels, and roof, were designed in a “honeycomb” shape to reinforce the vehicle’s structure.
This shape promotes greater resistance to the model, allowing the parts to support the weight of an adult person. The result of the production was an electric car that weighs less than a ton, measuring 4.2 meters in length. The lighter body is also an essential ally in energy efficiency. Its 40 kWh battery allows it to travel up to 400 km on a single charge.
