The construction sector continues to generate jobs even amid the pandemic

The 12 Brazilian states that most generated jobs in the construction industry amid the coronavirus pandemic were: Roraima, Pará, Amapá, Tocantins, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Alagoas, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and Paraná and the Federal District – in these states there was a greater number of employees with a formal contract.

Recently, we also have: Acre, Amazonas, Maranhão, São Paulo, Santa Catarina and Mato Grosso do Sul highlighted as the second largest generators of new jobs in civil construction amid the pandemic.

Growth in the number of construction jobs even amid the pandemic

According to Dieese-PA, all economic sectors in the State showed growth, with emphasis on Civil Construction (with 2.689 jobs), followed by the Industry sector in general (1.361 jobs); Commerce (1.261); Services (1.242) and the Agricultural sector (803 posts).

The study is part of the project of the Labor Observatory of the State of Pará, carried out in partnership by Dieese and the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Work, Employment and Income (seaster).

Positive Balance

In this same pandemic period, in Civil Construction in Tocantins, 41.364 jobs were registered, against 38.691 dismissals, leaving a positive balance of 2.673 new jobs in the formal market. The month of August was the best month of the year for hiring, leaving a balance of 2.040.

The balance is the difference between the number of admissions subtracting dismissals in a given period. As in the other months of the year, civil construction led the generation of formal jobs amid the pandemic.

In August, the sector hired 1.284 workers and laid off 609, leaving a positive balance of 675 new jobs. Throughout the year, companies in the sector recorded an accumulated 11.779 jobs, between the months of January and August, with a 6,08% relative change.
