Residents of São Miguel Paulista in the East Zone of the city are already using the new currency in SP, the Cacimba, to boost local trade.

The new currency in SP, called Cacimba, is gaining traction among the residents of Vila Nova União in São Miguel Paulista. Developed in partnership with the Institute for the Development of Social Investment, the initiative aims to promote local commerce and encourage entrepreneurship, especially in times of economic challenges. But what is the Cacimba? How does it work, and what does it mean for the community?

According to a report by Jornal SP1, the Cacimba emerged as a creative response to boost the economy of São Miguel Paulista. Inspired by the Northeastern tradition of digging wells in times of drought, the currency symbolizes collective effort and belonging. In Northeastern regions, a cacimba (or artisanal well) is dug by residents to share water. The Cacimba currency follows the same logic of solidarity: it does not belong to the one who “digs,” but to those who participate in the solidarity economy.

How the New Currency in SP Works: Cacimba

This new currency in SP is not just a concept; it is already in circulation! Residents can acquire it at the local social bank, where the currency is purchased and then used in registered businesses. With the Cacimba, it is possible to buy food, handcrafted products, and other items offered by local entrepreneurs. After transactions, merchants can exchange the Cacimba for reais, keeping the economic cycle active within the region.

The Community Fair and Its Impact on Local Commerce

The community fair in Vila Nova União was the first location to adopt the new currency in SP. Small traders, like Salete, who sells custom cakes, embraced the idea and saw it as an opportunity to expand their businesses. “I accept the Cacimba because it is a social currency and has a very positive impact on the community. With this solidarity economy, everyone benefits together,” commented Salete.

Solidarity Economy and Neighborhood Strengthening

The creation of the Cacimba is not just about money. It represents the unity of the community to strengthen local commerce, preventing residents from having to spend in other areas of the city. Juliana, one of the residents who started using the new currency in SP, emphasized: “I found the initiative super cool. This way, we encourage people to consume here in the neighborhood.”

The idea is simple but powerful: instead of leaving the area to spend their reais, residents exchange them for Cacimba and boost the trade in São Miguel Paulista. This benefits both local entrepreneurs and consumers.

Encouraging Entrepreneurship with the Cacimba

In addition to strengthening commerce, the new currency in SP also plays a crucial role in fostering entrepreneurship. The Cacimba Institute provides mentoring and support to small businesses, such as Su’s restaurant, which develops vegan cookies. “Since we started mentoring, our business has grown significantly. We lacked guidance on the right steps to take, and now we are much more organized,” explained Su, one of the 35 entrepreneurs benefiting from the initiative.

With the Cacimba starting to circulate, the expectation is that this new currency in SP will become an example of a solidarity and sustainable economy. The idea is that more merchants and residents join the movement, strengthening local commerce and creating a network of mutual support. Initiatives like this show that, with creativity and collaboration, it is possible to transform realities and strengthen entire communities.

The Cacimba is not just a currency; it is a symbol of resistance and collaboration. In a time when the economy faces challenges, solutions like this highlight the power of collectivity. The new currency in SP, with its spirit of solidarity, is beginning to take its first steps and already shows it has the potential to make a difference in the daily lives of those who live and work in São Miguel Paulista.

É ilegal inventar uma moeda, art. 21 VII da constituição e 292 do código penal e é **** pois causa inflação. E Vila nova união é o nome chique do Jd. Pantanal.
