The American company Amazon, a leader in the global technology and e-commerce sector, confirmed that it will set up its distribution unit at the Armazenna logistics center, located in the Suape Industrial Port Complex, in Cabo de Santo Agostinho-PE. The new facility is expected to start operating in the first quarter of 2020, and it is anticipated to generate hundreds of direct and indirect jobs in the region. This will be Amazon’s first center in the Northeast, which already has a unit in the state of São Paulo.

The governor of PE, Paulo Câmara, announced on Thursday morning (12), in São Paulo, his enthusiasm for the venture during a meeting with Amazon’s president in Brazil, Alex Szapiro. Also present were the president of Suape, Leonardo Cerquinho, the Secretary of Economic Development, Bruno Schwambach, and the president of AD Diper, Roberto Abreu e Lima.

“Having a giant in technology and logistics at Armazenna Suape shows confidence in the efficiency of our logistics hub,” says Cerquinho. Since its establishment in Brazil, this will be the multinational’s first physical operation outside of São Paulo, demonstrating the logistical potential of PE on a national scale.
