Get Ready, Because the Postal Service Contest Is Coming in Full Force! If You Were Waiting for an Opportunity to Secure a Position in One of Brazil’s Largest State-Owned Companies, Now Is the Time to Intensify Your Studies. After a hiatus of over a decade without national contests, the Postal Service announced that the exams are scheduled for December 15, promising a real marathon of candidates across the country.
Next Wednesday (9), the announcement will be published with all the rules for the contest. The state-owned company has already confirmed there will be 3,099 immediate vacancies for high school level, intended for the position of postal agent, and 369 opportunities for higher education, intended for the position of postal analyst. The starting salaries are quite attractive, beginning at R$2,429.26 for agents and reaching up to R$6,872.48 for analysts.
Selection and Vacancies
The Postal Service Contest also reserves vacancies for a reserve list, with 5,344 vacancies for agents and 631 for analysts, aimed at covering possible future needs. Thus, 30% of the vacancies will be reserved for black (both black and mixed-race) and indigenous people, an important inclusive action for the national scenario.

With the growing number of demands and the increase in operations of the state-owned company, especially in the postal tracking sector, the realization of this contest is seen as essential. Despite the more than 3 thousand open vacancies, unions and federations that represent the employees argue that the number is insufficient to meet the current demand.
According to Findect (Interstate Federation of Unions of Postal Workers), the labor shortage is a challenge that the state-owned company needs to urgently address.
What to Expect from the Exams?
The objective tests will be held in all regions of Brazil, covering 306 locations in all states and the Federal District. The Brazilian Institute of Training and Qualification (IBFC) will be responsible for organizing the event. For the position of postal agent, candidates will face multiple-choice questions on general and specific knowledge. Those aspiring for the position of analyst will have, in addition to the objective test, a descriptive essay of up to 30 lines.
The last time the Postal Service held a public contest at the national level was in 2011. At that time, about 1.1 million people registered, competing for just over 9 thousand vacancies. Now, the expectation is that the number of registrants will be high again, as the search for job stability and good salaries continues to be an attraction.
Labor Shortage
The holding of this new Postal Service Contest is part of the 2023 Collective Labor Agreement, established between the state-owned company and the unions, aimed at mitigating the shortage of professionals in the company’s most strategic functions. The accumulated workload, combined with the exponential growth in the use of services such as postal tracking, has caused overload among employees.
Although the number of vacancies is significant, there is a consensus that the current offer is not enough to cover the entire existing deficit. The situation has been worsening, especially in operational areas, where the company deals daily with a high volume of packages and letters.
A New Contest in Progress
In addition to the Postal Service Contest scheduled for December, the company has also recently opened registrations for another event, with 33 vacancies for positions in the areas of medicine and occupational safety. The starting salaries for these roles also reach R$6.8 thousand, attracting many candidates from different areas.
If you are preparing for this contest, keep an eye on the announcement that will be published on the next 9th, and don’t forget to include in your study schedule the subjects required for each position. Good luck!
