Educators from All Over Brazil Will Have the Chance to Secure a Place in the Public Network Through the National Competition, with Exams Scheduled for October and Registrations Expected for June. Know All the Details and Get Ready for This Great Opportunity!
The highly anticipated Unified National Competition for Teachers finally has an official date to take place. The exam, which seeks to select teachers to work in basic education in public networks, was confirmed for October this year. The announcement was made by Manuel Palacios, president of the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep), during an event by the NGO Todos Pela Educação in São Paulo.
When Will the Exam Take Place and How Does the Process Work?
The exam will be held in October, but interested parties should stay alert to the complete schedule. Registrations are expected to start in June, and the results will be announced in December. Thus, approved teachers will be selected in time for the start of the following school year.
The great novelty of this unified model is that it allows candidates to simultaneously compete for positions in different states and municipalities, broadening opportunities for teachers from all over the country.

How to Participate?
States and municipalities interested in using the exam scores to hire teachers must join the program by April 17. The municipal secretary of Education of São Paulo, Fernando Padula, has already confirmed that the city will use the assessment as a selection criterion.
This model allows a candidate to compete, for example, for a job in a municipality in the South and, at the same time, for an opportunity in the Northeast. This flexibility can be a significant advancement for those who wish to expand their opportunities in the job market.
Why Was the Competition Created?
According to NSC total, the creation of the competition has a clear goal: to increase the number of effective teachers in public education networks. It aims to ensure more appropriate criteria in the selection of professionals, ensuring quality in education.
Small municipalities often face logistical challenges and budgetary constraints to organize their own selection processes. With the unified model, these cities can hire qualified teachers without the need to hold individual competitions, saving time and resources.
According to Palacios, it is expected that at least 250,000 candidates with bachelor’s degrees will participate in the exam, making the process broader and more competitive.
How Will the Exam Be?
The assessment will be based on the National Exam of Student Performance (Enade), in a specific version for educational degrees, developed in 2024. The exam will be divided as follows:
- One third of the questions will address general themes related to the teaching profession;
- Two thirds will consist of specific questions from the subject the candidate intends to teach.
According to Palacios, the goal is for the exam to evaluate the teacher’s ability to deal with pedagogical challenges and real-life situations in the classroom.
