The city of Salgadinho, located in the Seridó region of Paraíba, is gaining prominence in the national tourism scene thanks to the discovery of Paraíba tourmaline, one of the most valuable gemstones in the world. The Precious Stone Is a National Treasure

Paraíba tourmaline stands out not only for its beauty and rarity, but also for its high commercial value. The price of a carat (0.2 grams) can vary between US$ 30,000 and US$ 100,000, depending on the characteristics of the gem. Due to its high value, it is crucial that the authenticity of Paraíba tourmaline be verified by a specialist to avoid fraud and counterfeiting.

Belonging to the Elbaite subgroup, the precious stone Paraíba tourmaline is known for its neon blue color, which can vary to neon green or lilac. This color variation, combined with its rarity, makes it one of the most desired stones in the jewelry market.

Paraíba Tourmaline in the Media

Paraíba tourmaline gained even more notoriety by being featured in the plot of the soap opera ‘No Rancho Fundo’, aired by Globo. This media exposure has significantly contributed to increasing interest in the precious stone and, consequently, in tourism in Salgadinho.

For those interested in visiting the Paraíba tourmaline mines in São José da Batalha, the city of Salgadinho is preparing to receive tourists with adequate infrastructure and itineraries that provide a unique experience. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the site.
