The Brasil Sul Shipyard – new name of the Oceana shipyard, is undergoing a revolution. The structure is being renovated to receive the construction of four ships ordered by the Brazilian Navy, a project worth R$ 9 billion.

The Águas Azuis consortium, which won the competition to design and produce the vessels and is led by the German Thyssenkrupp, is already the second largest ISS collector in the municipality, behind only a technology company. Municipality prepares for construction work on Navy ships
Rodrigo Duarte, CEO of Itajaí Participações – a public company that promotes business in Itajaí – said that now is the time to seek local, regional and state partnerships to supply the construction of ships.
The municipality in Santa Catarina is still preparing infrastructure for the construction stage of the Navy's frigates. The movement of trucks around the shipyard, which is on the bank of the river Itajaí-Açu, should increase considerably. In December, for example, the arrival of 200 trucks loaded with steel for ships is expected.
