Advancing In The Energy Sector And Embarking On The New Bet Of The Sector, Corio Generation Announced Its New Wind Farm Construction Projects In Several States Of The Country For The Production Of Offshore Wind Energy In Brazil.

The energy company Corio Generation announced on the morning of this Monday, (06/13), its latest energy plan for the national market. It is an investment in several offshore wind farm construction projects in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Espírito Santo, and Ceará. Thus, the company will invest in the new bet of the energy sector, the production of offshore wind energy, which could be the future of the segment in the national territory.

The States Of Ceará, Rio Grande Do Sul, And Espírito Santo Will Receive New Wind Farms For The Production Of Offshore Wind Energy

The production of offshore wind energy, that is, in the open sea, is the new bet of the energy sector for the coming years, due to the high potential existing on the Brazilian coast for such enterprises. Thus, companies are turning their attention to the sector and Corio Generation announced a package of investments in offshore wind energy projects for the coming years in Brazil, to take advantage of the growth of this segment.

There will be a total of five wind farm construction projects in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Ceará, and Espírito Santo that, together, will achieve a total capacity of 5 GW. In addition, Corio Generation also announced that all offshore production projects will be carried out in partnership with the Brazilian logistics and technology company Servtec.

The announcement was made on Monday morning, and with the projects, the company will enter the American offshore wind energy market, now focusing on generation at sea.

Corio Generation has a vast portfolio of businesses focused on Europe and the Asian Pacific, and with the new projects in Brazil that will be developed, the company’s global portfolio exceeds 20 GW of installed capacity for resource generation.

The company also highlighted that the choice of Brazil to host the new wind farms to be built by the company was made based on the strong potential of the Brazilian coast to generate energy efficiently even in regions with relatively shallow waters for the segment.

Corio Generation Now Awaits Regulation For Offshore Wind Energy Generation In Brazil To Continue The Wind Farm Projects

Although offshore wind energy is the topic of the moment in the national energy sector, there are still no well-defined regulations for the segment. Therefore, Corio Generation announced that it does not yet have a total investment projected for its future projects and is now awaiting the rules and laws related to offshore business to be able to continue its enterprises.

However, this should not take long, given that the Federal Government is paying close attention to the sector.

Furthermore, the company stressed that it is important for the regulatory framework of the sector in Brazil to clearly state the requirements for the construction of offshore wind farms in the country and the objectives that the government wants companies to achieve with the projects.

This way, the Federal Government and the private sector can work together to harness the great potential existing in the country.

Finally, the global president of Corio, Jonathan Cole, emphasized: “Brazil is blessed with immense wind resources along its coast, which guarantees it a new source of clean, reliable, and cost-effective energy. We see enormous opportunities to explore offshore wind energy in Brazil, bringing economic investments and green jobs to the country.”
