Post Office Initiates Largest Restructuring in History with Branch Closings and Real Estate Fund to Contain Crisis
The Post Office has decided to implement a new restructuring plan that includes the closing of 700 branches, creating a real estate fund, in addition to the goal of laying off 10 thousand employees through a PDV.
The measure, announced by the management of President Emmanoel Rondon, occurs this year across the entire national territory as a way to face the financial crisis threatening the company.
The strategy is adopted because, according to the management, it is urgent to reduce expenses, modernize operations, and improve the Economy of the state-owned enterprise, which is accumulating losses and needs to regain competitiveness.

Branch Closings Become Central Axis of Cost Reduction
The Branch Closings appear as one of the most drastic actions of the plan, as the state-owned company intends to close approximately 700 units between service points and logistical structures.
Additionally, the management explains that it intends to eliminate areas with idle workforce, correct service overlaps, and prioritize regions where profitability justifies the maintenance of the units. Thus, the internal study includes intelligence analyses that go beyond the simple distance between points.
Crisis Pressures Post Office to Cut R$ 2 Billion Per Year in Payroll
The second axis of the restructuring is the cut in payroll, which is expected to reach R$ 2 billion per year.
The previous PDV did not reach the goal — only 3.6 thousand of the 8 thousand interested employees joined.
This time, however, the company states that it will need to make the plan more attractive. Management assesses that it will be necessary to “convince these workers that it will be advantageous to leave the company with the PDV,” keeping the original quote.
However, even with the PDV and the revision of collective agreement benefits, management acknowledges that the measures will not be sufficient to stabilize the accounts. Therefore, it will be necessary to increase revenues and seek new sources of sustainability.
Real Estate Fund: Billion-Dollar Bet to Strengthen Cash Flow and Stimulate the Economy
Among the boldest actions of the plan is the creation of a real estate fund, designed by Caixa Econômica Federal.
The fund will gather 2,366 properties valued at R$ 5.4 billion. The idea is to sell the properties, capitalize the company and then lease the same spaces, possibly including the headquarters building of the Post Office in Brasília.
The proposal will also serve as a counterpart for the federal government to provide guarantees for a loan requested by the state-owned company from financial institutions.
Post Office Admits They Have Been “Stuck in Time” and Now Rush to Keep Up with the Market
Management acknowledges that the state-owned enterprise has lost ground in the logistics sector.
The internal assessment states that, while Amazon and Mercado Livre have consolidated as technology companies, creating ecosystems that integrate marketplace, e-commerce, and even banking services, the Post Office has “stopped in time” — keeping the original quote.
Thus, the plan aims to redesign the marketplace, invest in underexplored niches, and expand services where competitors are not yet active.
Operational Changes Include Specialized Transport and Greater Focus on Government
The Post Office also wants to reinforce service provision to the government, expanding transports that require temperature control, such as medications and vaccines.
Today, the state-owned enterprise does not have sufficient logistics structure for this type of operation, and this limitation must be overcome in the new investment cycle.
Private Partnerships and Innovation to Accelerate the Turnaround
The state-owned enterprise is preparing a front of partnerships with private companies, which could occur in any business area.
One example is the use of a smart ink applied directly to the boxes, functioning as a security seal. According to management, this will reduce service time, as the customer will only need to deliver the ready package to the attendant.
Additionally, there are plans to offer financial services in partnership with banks, without the need for bidding.
Internal Economy and Private Capital: Double Bet to Save the Post Office from Crisis
The ultimate goal of the package is clear: cut internal expenses, attract private capital, create new revenues, and prepare the company to survive in an increasingly competitive market.
Therefore, the plan is divided between cost cutting, operational modernization, raising funds through the real estate fund, and opening up for strategic partnerships.
The current management states that the measures are tough but necessary to prevent the worsening of the Post Office crisis and to reposition the state-owned enterprise in the logistics sector, regaining its economic relevance.

Quando o presidente anterior saiu, deixando lucro em caixa. Os atuais disseram que não tinha dado aquele lucro. Mais era visto que sim, pois compraram smartphone novo, bicicleta elétrica, cofres e sistemas de alarme. E ai, o dinheiro acabou. Pois começou a faltar papel de trabalho, papel no banheiro, faltou pagar os terceirizados, ali começou a crise. E a culpa agora é dos funcionários que devem ser cortados, das agências que devem ser fechadas. Quem foi os beneficiados com as compras das bikes elétricas que NAO TEM MANUTENCAO? Quem foi beneficiado com sistema de alarme NOVO, sendo que o anterior estav em pelno funcionamento? Quem foi o vendedor de novos cofres SEM NECESSIDADE. Pois o correio não tem mais banco postal. Ou seja, faz depósito diário de sua movimentação bancária. CPI investiguem quem sabe como, mensalão, petrolao e outras mais chegará aos mesmos culpados…NUNCA FARAM A CULPA SERA DE A OU B…MENOS MINHA NE GOVERNO.

E lembrando, governo anterior não investiu 1 centavo se quer nas estatais, e ainda deixou 255 bilhões de dividas nao pagas (Raps) e na MP de transição deixou tudo para o sucessor.
