Cuiabá Hits The Mark Of R$ 1 Billion In Investments, Resulting In The Largest Investment In Basic Sanitation In Its History.

The Iguá Saneamento Group, through Águas Cuiabá, allocated these resources to improve and expand its sanitation program and boost the municipality’s profile nationally. Since 2017, the city has seen a significant increase in the number of neighborhoods with 100% treated and fluoridated water, as well as sewage coverage of about 80% of the city.

Cuiabá continues to be the capital that has recorded the highest investment per capita in these areas, according to Trata Brasil 2023. Renato Carlini Camargo, General Director of Águas Cuiabá, states that they are committed to meeting the established goals to improve the quality of life for the population.

The efforts to achieve this goal include socio-environmental sustainability through the collaboration of concessionaires, the granting authority, and the Public Ministry, which sought ways to overcome challenges and implement structural actions in consolidated urban areas, where the movement of machinery and workers inevitably affects daily life.

Arsec Is Essential In Regulation And Oversight For This Level Of Investment To Be Achieved In The Capital.

The regulatory agency provides legal security, both for the concessionaire Águas Cuiabá to carry out investments efficiently and for the Granting Power and the population to have guarantees of quality in the execution of works, explains Vanderlúcio Rodrigues, President of Arsec.

The conservation of water sources is a direct effect of the increase in sewage treatment rates and is part of the list of priority initiatives from the State Public Ministry, notes Public Prosecutor Gerson Barbosa, the idealizer of the Water for the Future project, which aims to save and recover springs.

By prioritizing sanitation services, the capital gained 442 kilometers of new collector networks in six years, installed in 102 neighborhoods. Additionally, the existing large treatment plants, Dom Aquino and Tijucal, were reconstructed and modernized to utilize cutting-edge technology.

Most Sewage Treatment Plants Were Fully Automated And Have Energy Efficiency Mechanisms, Ensuring Maintenance Of High Treatment Standards In Line With Current Legislation.

For 2023, the forecast is to install an additional 44 kilometers of collector pipelines in 29 neighborhoods. There will be the construction of six new Sewage Lift Stations (EEEs) and the restoration and modernization of the Atalaia and Morada do Ouro ETEs.

The goal is to universalize access for the population to quality water and sewage collection and treatment, serving 605,000 people. The company contributes to the preservation of rivers, providing quality of life for families and increasing opportunities for growth and economic development, as well as saving and recovering springs.
