A Milestone in the State Road Infrastructure: An Ambitious R$ 7.7 Billion Plan That Promises to Transform Mobility and the Economy of the Country, Benefiting All Road Users
The Government of Goiás has announced a revolutionary plan that promises to modernize over 2,000 kilometers of state highways. The auction, scheduled for February 7, 2025, seeks to attract private investments to enhance road infrastructure, essential for agricultural freight transport and regional traffic.
Investment Details and Project Scope with a New Road Infrastructure
With an estimated investment of R$ 7.7 billion over 30 years, the concession program covers six lots of highways serving 17 municipalities, directly impacting the economy and mobility in the region. The highways, currently under state management, will undergo structural improvements, ensuring safety and fluid traffic, according to terrabrasilnotícias.
Which Highways Will Be Under Concession?
The plan includes six main sections, totaling 2,104 km of highways located in strategic areas for agricultural production and goods transport. Check the main sections included in the program:

These highways will receive significant investments to ensure proper traffic conditions.
The Innovation of the Electronic Toll System
One of the major innovations of this project is the introduction of the Free Flow system, a model of electronic toll that eliminates the need for physical toll plazas. Sensors installed along the highways will identify vehicles and automatically charge the toll, reducing queues and congestion. Estimated tolls range between R$ 10.74 and R$ 13.37 per section, calculated based on the distance traveled.
Expected Benefits from the Concession
The concession of the highways will bring significant changes to the state, both in road infrastructure and the economy. Among the main benefits are:
1st Improvement of Road Quality: constant maintenance with improvements in paving, signaling, and safety.
2nd Reduction of Accidents: well-maintained roads contribute to a decrease in accidents and traffic fatalities.
3rd Increased Agility in Freight Transport: modernized roads make the flow of agricultural production more efficient, reducing logistical costs.
4th Job Creation: creation of direct and indirect jobs during the construction and operation phases.
5th More Efficient Use of Public Resources: with the management of the highways transferred to the private sector, the government will be able to direct resources to priority areas like health and education.
Expectations of the Government and the Population with the New Roads
Governor Mauro Mendes emphasized that the concession program is vital to modernize the road infrastructure of Mato Grosso, the largest agricultural producer in the country. The goal is to provide quality highways and strengthen the state’s economy. The Secretary of Infrastructure, Marcelo de Oliveira, also highlighted that the auction should attract companies specialized in road management, ensuring that improvements are implemented quickly.
