In December 2025, just a few months after the authorization granted in August 2025, the transition to the new gasoline E30 was already a reality at fuel stations in various regions of Brazil. The change in the official specification raised the ethanol content mixed with regular gasoline to 30%, redesigning the base of the fuel that powers most of the national light vehicle fleet.
The change is not just numerical. With the new gasoline E30, the minimum octane measured in RON (Research Octane Number) rose from 93 to 94, increasing the fuel’s resistance to premature detonation. In practice, this reduces the chance of “knocking” and creates room for modern engines, especially turbocharged ones, to operate more efficiently without requiring the driver to spend more on each full tank.

The main change of the new gasoline E30 is in the proportion of anhydrous ethanol mixed with regular gasoline, which increased from 27% to 30%.

At first glance, many drivers tend to associate more ethanol with increased consumption, as alcohol has lower calorific power than pure gasoline.
However, behind the change, there is a technical gain: the richer mixture of ethanol allowed the minimum octane to be raised to 94 RON.
This additional resistance to detonation is the central point of the new specification because it broadens the safety margin within the combustion chamber and reduces the tendency for explosions before the correct ignition moment.
How The New Gasoline E30 Helps Turbo And High Compression Engines
Modern high compression engines and turbo engines are designed to operate under higher pressure and elevated temperatures within the cylinders.
With the new gasoline E30, which is more resistant to detonation, the electronic control units of these engines can advance the ignition timing in specific situations, making better use of the potential of each combustion cycle.
In practice, the result is that these engines can deliver more torque and power with the same volume of fuel, maintaining stable operation and reducing the occurrence of typical knocking noises.
The gain is more noticeable in turbo cars and recent Flex engine projects that have been designed to operate with broader ranges of mixtures between gasoline and ethanol.
Consumption, Ethanol And Thermal Efficiency In The New Gasoline E30
From a pure energy perspective, the increase in ethanol content in the new gasoline E30 would tend to raise consumption since ethanol has lower calorific power than gasoline.
However, experts point out that the increase in octane to 94 RON brings an important positive counter-effect.
With more resistance to detonation, the electronic management of the engine can optimize the ignition timing and internal workings, increasing thermal efficiency.
The technical assessment is that this gain tends to compensate for the energy difference of ethanol, keeping consumption close to the previous standard but with superior performance in accelerations, recoveries, and continuous use.
In more modern Flex engines, the control unit automatically identifies the new mixture and adjusts parameters to get the best out of the E30.
When The New Gasoline E30 Really Arrives At Gas Stations
The switch to the new gasoline E30 does not happen instantly.
Although the change in specification has been authorized since August 2025, its arrival at the pumps depends on the depletion of old stocks in distribution centers and underground tanks at gas stations.
In some regions, E30 has already become the standard at regular gasoline pumps.
In others, the substitution is still underway and should occur gradually in the following weeks as previous stocks are consumed and replaced by the new formulation.
For the driver, this transition tends to be nearly invisible, as there is no evident visual change in the product, but the technical effect on the engine is already beginning to be felt.
New Gasoline E30 And The Path To A Future Gasoline E35
The introduction of the new gasoline E30 is part of a broader strategy for fuel policy in the country.
The plan under discussion foresees, in the future, the possibility of increasing the ethanol blend to up to 35%, creating a potential gasoline E35.
This advancement, however, depends on validation by the automotive industry, which needs to confirm whether engines in use and future projects can support the higher ratio without detrimental effects on durability, emissions, and performance.
At the same time, the progressive increase of ethanol content seeks to reduce dependence on imported gasoline and contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions in a predominantly Flex fleet.

A questão é se vamos testar ou não a gasolina, não temos escolhas se Ela estiver no posto e estivermos ela e só ela iremos abastecer, se for num outro posto e tiver opções sem dúvidas o preço será elevado para outra se quisermos, somos reféns.
A única vantagem na verdade é para o governo que quer arrecadar mais impostos da população ,então vieram com a mentira de que esta mistura traria menos gastos para os usuários,como o governo em pleno século 21 acharem que ainda somosignorantes.O Etanol não é a preferência dos usuários é um combustível na minha opinião horrível,difícil de fazer o veículo funcionar no inverno,o consumo é elevado obrigando um novo abastecimento mais rápido em comparação a gasolina e o preço é outra vergonha Nacional,muito caro e consumo elevado,como a maior parte da população vai conseguir manter seu veículo rodando recebendo essa vergonha que chamam de salário,daqui ninguém mais irá poder reclamar de gasolina batizada,porque isto já estará acontecendo direto no fabricante,imagine este absurdo que querem implantar a tal E 35,seria bonito pro governo se acabasse com a gasolina de uma vez ao invés de ficar inventando essa palhaçada pra cima de nós.Se lula,sempre votei no PT ,más diante desta roubalheira não terá mais meu voto e nem de meus familiares,me arrependo deste infeliz voto.
