Dürr redefines sustainable production with innovative atomization technology, EcoBell4
The EcoBell4, a revolutionary range of atomisers launched by Dürr, is taking sustainable production to new heights. The remarkably innovative technology boasts an impressive efficiency of up to 98% when applying varnish. The implementation of EcoBell4 results in a significant reduction in paint waste and consumption of rinsing agents, reaching savings of 50% during color changes, and reaching up to 91% when combined with the modern modular paint booth concept, EcoProBooth.
EcoBell4 Atomizers: sustainability and efficiency in paint application
Dürr's new atomisers – the direct-loading EcoBell4 Pro Hu and the external-loading EcoBell4 Pro Ux – represent the cutting edge of technological innovation. When it comes to applying varnish, the atomizers achieve application efficiencies of 95 to 98%, as per DIN EN 13966-1.
The secret lies in optimizing various process parameters: spray speed and distance are reduced, improving the impact of high voltage while maintaining a high paint flow rate. In addition, molding air is minimized and high voltage control is adjusted. All of this adds up to exceptional paint application performance.
To corroborate this remarkable efficiency, Dürr is conducting tests on a dedicated automotive paint shop in collaboration with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Current systems are also adaptable to this innovation.
EcoBell4 atomizers: reduced consumption and quick color changes
In addition to advancing the painting process, EcoBell4 atomizers offer a significant improvement in color changing efficiency thanks to an innovative design. Thanks to Dürr's unique four-needle technology, the EcoBell4 makes color changes faster than any other high-speed rotary atomizer on the market. This technological advancement not only saves time, but also reduces ink and rinse agent consumption, as well as lowering volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.
With three of the four main needles dedicated exclusively to the most commonly used colors, the system can switch to another main needle in just four seconds, without the need for rinsing and cleaning. This procedure significantly reduces ink waste and rinse agent consumption related to color changes.
EcoBell4 Integration with EcoProBooth: A Combination of Economy and Sustainability
Paint and rinse agent consumption is reduced by 51% with the EcoBell4 compared to the previous version, the EcoBell3, in the conventional production line scenario. The new generation of atomisers, in partnership with the EcoProBooth spray booth, further optimizes efficiency. With the application of interior and exterior painting taking place in a single booth, color changeover and handling times are reduced.
The EcoBell4 Pro Ux Universal Atomizer is the perfect match for the EcoProBooth, suitable for exterior, interior and metallic paint applications. The combination of the EcoBell4 Pro Ux with the EcoProBooth results in savings of up to 91% during color changes, reducing ink waste and rinsing agent consumption.
“The amount of paint saved would be enough to paint another 15.600 bodies,” says Frank Herre, Head of Application Technology Development at Dürr.
