In recent weeks, the internet went crazy with rumors about a possible Tesla smartphone launch. Many videos and speculations arose, especially after Elon Musk participated in Joe Rogan’s podcast on YouTube. But will this smartphone really come to fruition? Well, Musk himself came to clarify the situation, and spoiler: it’s not time to say goodbye to your Android or iPhone yet.
Elon Musk Denies Rumors: No Tesla Smartphone (For Now)
During the interview, Elon Musk made it clear that Tesla is not developing any smartphone at the moment. Despite being an innovative company, with projects ranging from electric cars to humanoid robots, a Tesla smartphone is not part of the plans.
“It would be possible to create a phone since our operating system is based on Linux, with a lot of additional software. But that is not in our plans right now,” Musk said.

“If companies like Apple or Google start censoring apps or acting as gatekeepers excessively, we would consider developing our own phone,” Musk explained.
In other words, if one day the major players start limiting access to certain platforms, a Tesla smartphone could become a reality to ensure users have more freedom.
Starlink and Partnership with T-Mobile
Even though a Tesla smartphone is still off the table, Elon Musk is not completely out of the communication market. During the interview, he talked about the partnership between SpaceX and T-Mobile to bring Starlink satellite technology directly to smartphones. This project promises to revolutionize connectivity, allowing mobile devices to access the internet directly from space.
But don’t worry, that won’t happen tomorrow. According to Musk, the launch of this service should only occur in 2025. Still, it’s more proof that Tesla and its sister companies, like SpaceX, are always looking to the future.
Why Does Elon Musk Prefer to Focus on Other Projects?
