The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, Congratulated on Thursday the Elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, for the Victory in the Election. In a Speech that Blends Admiration and Pragmatism, Putin Highlighted Trump’s Courage When Facing an Assassination Attempt and Signaled Moscow’s Readiness for Dialogue. The Statement Marks a Significant Moment in International Relations, with Putin Indicating Openness for a New Phase of Cooperation Between the Countries.

In His First Public Comments After Trump’s Victory, Putin Praised the Elected President for His “brave and firm” Stance During the Assassination Attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, Which Occurred on July 14. “He Conducted Himself, in My Opinion, Very Correctly, Very Bravely, Like a Real Man”, Putin Stated During an Event in Sochi. The Russian Leader Took the Opportunity to Express His Congratulations on Trump’s Electoral Victory, Declaring that the New President Showed Bravery and Resilience.

Putin also highlighted the Challenges Faced by Trump Throughout the Campaign, Mentioning that the Republican was “attacked from all sides”, Referring to the Criticism and Challenges Received During His Electoral Journey. However, He Went Further, Stating that Trump’s Comments on Ukraine and the Restoration of Relations with Russia are “worthy of attention”. This Openness to Dialogue Suggests that Under Trump’s Leadership, the Russian Government Hopes for a Less Confrontational Approach in Diplomatic Relations.

Putin Believes That Trump Deserves Attention

During the Electoral Campaign, Trump Promised to Bring Peace to Ukraine within 24 Hours if Elected. Although He Avoided Giving Further Details on How He Plans to End the Conflict, the Largest in Europe Since World War II, This Statement Resounded in Moscow. “What Was Said About the Desire to Restore Relations with Russia, to End the Crisis with Ukraine, in My Opinion Deserves at Least Attention”, Putin Stated, highlighting the importance of Joint Efforts to Resolve the Stalemate.

When Asked About a Possible Conversation with Trump, Putin Made It Clear That He Would Be Willing to Meet if the Future U.S. Government Desired. “I Am Ready to Resume Contact if the Future Trump Administration Wishes”, He Declared, Signaling a Possible Diplomatic Reapproachment. The Expectation is That a Frank Dialogue Between the Two Leaders Could Contribute to Regional and Global Stability.

Republican Promises

The Kremlin Spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, Also Commented on Trump’s Stance Regarding the Ukraine Crisis, Stating That Putin Remembers the Republican’s Promises, Even if He Considers the Proposed Speed to Resolve the Conflict to be “exaggerated”. When Asked About the Recent Warning from the Elected U.S. Vice President, Kamala Harris, That “Putin Would Eat Trump for Lunch”, Peskov Responded Lightheartedly: “Putin Does Not Eat People”, Drawing Laughter from the Audience.

These Statements Reveal Putin’s Openness to Start a New Chapter in Relations Between Russia and the United States, Now Under Trump’s Leadership. By Highlighting Points of Convergence and Extending a Diplomatic Hand, Putin Sends a Clear Message: Moscow is Willing to Engage in Dialogue, and Russia is Watching Closely the Next Steps of the New U.S. Administration.
