Withdrawal of emergency aid

New criteria by the Federal Government to receive the benefit of emergency aid has generated doubts and annoyance among Brazilians

Faced with the scenario in which Brazilians found themselves to survive amid the Covid-19 pandemic and after much appeal from the population, the Federal Government granted the benefit of emergency aid last year (2020) to try to reduce the economic impacts that the pandemic intended to cause to people of medium and low income. It was announced that the benefit would end in 2021, even if Brazilians are still going through several difficulties to survive.

After a great appeal from the people, the Federal Government decided that the emergency aid will continue, but now with the adoption of stricter criteria after difficulties and fraud during the registration of citizens to receive the benefit in the initial phase.

Explaining the new criteria for the benefit of emergency aid

In a note, the lawyer specializing in Labor Law and Business Law, Thaluana Alves, spoke more about the new criteria that will be adopted to be entitled to the benefit:

“With the occurrence of several problems and illegalities, now the data will be analyzed more precisely and 11 databases will be crossed, such as, for example, CAGED, INSS, MEI, CNIS and Income Tax. (...) The President of the Republic confirmed new emergency aid payments and they are scheduled to take place from March. However, the government has implemented a more judicious model that will cross-reference the data of several Brazilians to reduce the number of people who will be entitled to emergency aid”, highlighted the lawyer.

The lawyer also said that, in addition to emergency aid, some other programs in the federal economic area will be put into practice

“The ideal would be to continue these measures until the economy affected by the pandemic is restored, however, the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, has not yet informed how this year will be, given that the budget awaits a vote in Congress”, he said.
