Startup Borobotics Launches Autonomous Earthworm Robot That Facilitates Access to Geothermal Energy, Making It More Accessible and Efficient.

Startup Borobotics is changing the way access to geothermal energy is handled. With the launch of its autonomous earthworm robot, named “Grabowski”, Borobotics aims to make geothermal energy more accessible and efficient.

The robot was developed to autonomously drill in various conditions, such as gardens or parking lots, and harness geothermal heat to provide energy sustainably.

Meet the Earthworm Robot

The “Grabowski”, Borobotics’ earthworm robot, is only 13.5 cm wide and 2.8 meters long.

This compact size and its drilling technology allow it to reach depths of up to 500 meters, extracting geothermal heat from the ground.

This heat is used by geothermal heat pumps, which heat environments in winter and cool them in summer, using much less energy than conventional systems.

With the geothermal source, Borobotics aims to transform the way we consume energy, making it more efficient and accessible.

The earthworm robot not only excavates efficiently, but it also automatically seals the holes it makes, making the process even safer and more practical.

The “Grabowski” is an innovative tool that uses smart sensors to operate autonomously and connects directly to an electrical outlet, without the need for large equipment or heavy infrastructure.

Geothermal Energy as an Efficient Alternative

Geothermal energy is gaining global attention, especially from the European Union, which encourages the adoption of this clean source to achieve its decarbonization goals.

Borobotics is positioned to lead this transformation, bringing geothermal energy to a broader audience.

With its earthworm robot technology, the company makes drilling accessible even in areas where it was previously impossible, allowing more people and businesses to benefit from geothermal sources.

Moritz Pill, co-founder of Borobotics, believes that the earthworm robot technology is a significant advancement for geothermal energy.

He states: “Drilling will become possible on properties where it would be unthinkable today, and this will open doors for broader utilization of geothermal energy.”

He highlights the efficiency of geothermal heat pumps, which can be installed in areas with surface heat, offering an economical and efficient solution for heating and cooling environments.

Borobotics Revolutionizing Geothermal Energy with the Earthworm Robot

With recent funding of €1.38 million, Borobotics is ready to test the earthworm robot in real conditions later this year.

The geothermal source is seen as one of the most promising solutions for the global energy future, and companies like Borobotics are leading this movement.

The International Energy Agency estimates that by 2050, geothermal energy could supply up to 15% of global energy demand, and Borobotics will be at the forefront of this revolution.

With the earthworm robot, Borobotics is making geothermal energy more accessible, efficient, and practical for everyone.

This advancement has the potential to transform the energy market, helping to reduce the consumption of traditional sources and contributing to a more sustainable and energy-efficient future.
