Among the exhibitors present at the Brazil Windpower 2022, the company Vestas, also represented by Eric Gomes, Commercial Director of Vestas in Brazil, reported that the first turbine was installed in Fernando de Noronha in the 2000s. “And more recently, in the last twelve years, we have a very significant presence with investments, with the location of wind turbine technology. We opened our first factory in 2011 in the municipality of Maracanaú, in the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza,” the director stated.

Regarding the company’s growth in Brazil, Eric mentioned that Vestas’ plan is to open a second maintenance center in Bahia, where a large part of the installations are concentrated, providing even more new jobs for the region. “It is a very significant impact, not only on the production activity of wind turbines… We have our factory in Aquiraz, but we also produce blades and towers through partners with projects, with Vestas designers, which is also a job creation vector,” the exhibitor argued.
