The Problem Has Been Frequent in Several Segments in the Chain; Genesis Group Has 540 Opportunities, Mainly for the Field; The Mining Company Seedz Is Looking for 70 Professionals Focused on Technology and Other Areas, The Logtech GoFlux Has 16 Vacancies, and The Artificial Intelligence Startup Adroit Has Up to Three Research Scholarships
According to data from IBGE, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, in October of last year, the country had about 12.9 million unemployed people. Even with such a high number, some sectors suffer from a lack of labor and have been struggling for months with open positions, experiencing a true hunt for new professionals. One of these areas is agribusiness, which grows every year and to sustain this scenario also needs to increase the number of hires.
Since 2021, Genesis Group, a platform for testing, inspection, certification, analysis, and traceability solutions for agro-food, has had over 500 job openings in various cities in Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Tocantins, Bahia, Paraná, Maranhão, and São Paulo. For different positions such as: Grain Classifiers, Accounting Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, Administrative Aides, Field Auditor, Operations Supervisor, and Support Technician.
According to HR and Academy Manager at Genesis Group, Nancy Sert Ferreira, one of the main obstacles to hiring in their case is the lack of professionals willing to work in agribusiness during the harvest period. “At certain times of the year, the demand is very high, making it necessary to have availability,” she reports.

Many employers do not know, but the law guarantees domestic workers a 25% increase in salary during trips, 50% for overtime, 20% for night shifts, and 17 additional benefits that can lead to labor lawsuits if not paid.

Selection processes are always a great challenge for companies, but according to Nancy, every year there is an increasing shortage of qualified labor and people willing to learn and develop in the face of the challenges that agribusiness presents. “We are among the best companies to work for, certified by GPTW, but even so, we face difficulties in some regions of the country and for more specific positions,” emphasizes the executive from Genesis Group.
Academic background is another challenge when filling vacancies. “In the field, we do not require experience, as we have a corporate university, through which we develop and train our teams, but the number of people who do not complete high school, which is the minimum requirement for our positions, is still high,” she stresses. More Opportunities in Agribusiness
Skilled labor is also a problem in the mining agtech Seedz, a technology and services startup in agribusiness, based in Belo Horizonte and having grown over 600% in the last year. There are 70 vacancies for mid and senior levels in the fields of information technology, data processing, marketing, human resources, and commercial. Also in the technology field, the startup Adroit, which develops solutions in artificial intelligence, has reinvented orchard monitoring with its smart sensors and the LeafSense system. Experiencing exponential growth, the company has an opportunity for a Python Developer and also has three vacancies for researchers, with research scholarships from Fapesp (São Paulo Research Foundation) to work on a coffee-growing expansion project: one for a graduate in computing or engineering, with a master’s or doctorate degree, and two other scholarships for graduates in computing or engineering, with at least four years of experience after graduation. In the logtech goFlux, which provides a platform for freight negotiation, connecting carriers with shippers, there are 16 opportunities to work in logistics in agribusiness, with 12 in technology for the commercial area in the Pinheiros neighborhood in the capital of São Paulo, and another five for the commercial department. According to Alessandra Alves Duarte, HR manager of the company, they are practicing a hybrid work model, that is, both in-person and remote, but one of the difficulties is that most candidates prefer only the remote model.
