The Lins Photovoltaic Complex Starts Operations in Ceará and Expands Renewable Energy Generation in Brazil, Strengthening the Energy Transition and Consolidating the National Sustainable Electric Matrix
The renewable energy sector gains new momentum in Brazil with the start of operations of the Lins Photovoltaic Complex, located in São Gonçalo do Amarante, Ceará, according to a report published.
The project, which is part of the New Growth Acceleration Program (New PAC) of the Federal Government, was inaugurated on September 18 and marks an important advancement in the expansion of the national electric matrix based on clean and sustainable sources.
With 182 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity, the project reinforces the leadership of Brazil’s Northeast in solar energy production and encourages the diversification of the national energy matrix.

Solar Photovoltaic Generation and the Expansion of the Brazilian Electric Matrix
The Lins Photovoltaic Complex consists of 59 generating units distributed over two plants.
The Lins 01 Plant has 29 units with a total capacity of 90 MW, while the Lins 02 Plant comprises 30 units with a capacity of 92 MW. Together, they total 182 MW, equivalent to the average consumption of about 250 thousand households.
The connection to the Basic Network will be made through the substation SE 230 kV Pecém II, ensuring efficiency and stability in energy supply.
This new milestone consolidates Ceará as one of the main solar generation hubs in the country, driving investments and innovation in renewable energy.
Just and Sustainable Energy Transition Driven by Solar Energy
The project is part of the Federal Government’s strategy to strengthen a fair and sustainable energy transition in Brazil.
The environmental licensing process was conducted by the State Superintendence of the Environment (SEMACE-CE), which issued the Operating Licenses (LO) for the plants and for the line of restricted interest.
This care with environmental regulation reinforces the sector’s commitment to sustainable practices and responsible development.
In addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the Lins Complex enhances energy security and generates direct and indirect jobs, benefiting local communities.
Investments in Clean Energy and Regional Economic Strengthening
The implementation of the Lins Photovoltaic Complex represents not only a technological advance but also a vector for economic development.
Projects like this consolidate Ceará’s role in leading solar generation and attract new private and public investments aimed at clean energy.
The expansion of energy infrastructure reinforces the state’s potential to host future New PAC projects, stimulating productive chains, workforce training, and strengthening the Brazilian green economy.
Thus, renewable energy solidifies as a strategic axis for the sustainable growth of the country.
