Observing the high growth of the green hydrogen sector, ENGIE joined the Associação Brasileira de Hidrogênio with the objective of promoting partnerships, studies and investments in the sector

ENGIE's objective with joining the Brazilian Hydrogen Association is to advance in the green hydrogen sector, where the company is focused on growing both in Brazil and around the world. Joining the association, encouraging partnerships and studies in this sector, further confirms ENGIE's goal of achieving zero emissions by 2045.

According to ENGIE Brasil's Business Development and Green Hydrogen Manager, Koen Langie, the company believes that, by joining forces with the Brazilian Hydrogen Association, it is possible to leverage applied research to advance the use of green hydrogen by industries in commercial scale.

Another focus of the partnership with the entity is the training of trained professionals. The executive points out that it is necessary to create human capital in the country so that it is possible to develop green hydrogen projects.

Executives from both parties speak out

For Langie, the Brazilian hydrogen market needs adequate regulation to evolve. Therefore, working alongside the Brazilian Hydrogen Association and its associates will bring new opportunities to boost regulatory and normative frameworks in the country, establishing a competitive and attractive market for new investors.

Also according to the executive, ENGIE is able to see opportunities in the creation of solutions for sectors such as steel, chemical, mining, petrochemical and others. According to the president of the Brazilian Hydrogen Association, Paulo Emílio Valadão de Miranda, the entity's mission is to create a network composed of companies, universities, government institutions and agencies to discuss, encourage and plan initiatives in the hydrogen sector. green with a focus on creating regulations, standards and codes.

Monica Saraiva Panik, director of institutional relations at the entity since 2020, says that she has been observing the recent advances in the sector and the increased interest in this energy solution, the ABH2, has been connecting with companies and the private sector. This is because the hydrogen segment has become one of the largest in the last year and interest has been growing.

ENGIE plans to reach 4GW of Hydrogen capacity by 2030

ENGIE's global goal is to develop a strong position in green hydrogen, a technology that is gaining momentum globally. The group's mission is to benefit from the advantages and be at the forefront of the sector.

In the company's view, green hydrogen is a strategic vector for carbon neutrality, given that it allows better use of renewable energies and helps to reduce emissions for sectors to achieve their goals.

By 2030, ENGIE expects to develop an installed capacity for manufacturing green hydrogen of 4 GW, install around 700 km of source-oriented networks and operate more than 100 fueling stations. The group already has around 70 hydrogen projects in operation spread across 10 countries.
